Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam visits Tra Vinh University

(TVU)- On the morning of 23 of August, H.E. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam and the delegation from the Embassy of Canada paid a visit to Tra Vinh University (TVU) with the reception of TVU leaders, staff and students.

Delivering the speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector summarized some notable achievements obtained during the last years by highlighting remarkable success in the scope of the 2001-2006 Vietnam-Canada Community College Project and current collaborative relations between TVU and Canadian institutions.

 

Since 2001, the cooperation between TVU and its Canadian partners has been strengthened and developed sustainably in various cooperative fields such as academic exchange, student exchange and training programs.

 

“Annually, TVU receives supports in teaching, training, research as well as experience sharing from Canadian volunteers and experts. Developing from a community college based on the Canadian model, this university plays a pivotal role with the mission “Bringing best learning opportunity for community”. Thus, we are striving for a university based on Canadian model in the near future”, said the Rector.       

 

Taking this opportunity, TVU leaders gave big thanks to the Government and People of Canada, specially the massive support of the Embassy of Canada to Vietnam. He also hoped to receive more supports from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam in boosting cooperation with Canadian institutions and organizations.   

 

H.E. Ping Kitnikone expressed her happiness with the achievements and the development of TVU during the last years. And the ambassador had a talk with TVU faculty members about education and training, economic development and projects to be carried out at TVU, and in particular paying special attention to TVU’s policy of gender and community.

 

The Ambassador expressed her pleasure with the warm welcome from TVU. On this visit, she introduced the faculty members and students the country and people of Canada on the occasion of the 150th Canada Day.   

 

The delegation also participated in the tree planting ceremony at the School of Southern Khmer Language, Culture and Arts, and visited Canadian volunteers as well as the student dormitory on the campus.
