(TVU) - 15.6.2017 – Diane Michele Millar, U.S. Embassy Regional English Language Officer, visited Tra Vinh University today to see the success of the Access English Microscholarship Program implemented through the TVU School of Foreign Languages and funded by the U.S. Department of State through the U.S. Embassy.



Dr Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of TVU, acknowledged the significance of the Access Program to the local population, and expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their visit.


Afterwards Mr Khau Hoang Anh of the School briefed about the program’s implementations and its successful impact on the teenage students. He said the students learned about the English language, American culture, and participated in field trips which provided a foundation of English language skills to 13-16 year-olds from Tra Vinh’s economically disadvantaged backgrounds.


In her remarks, Ms Diane warmly thanked Tra Vinh University on behalf of the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City for the friendship and cooperation in this program implemented over the past one and a half years. She also talked about how the U.S. Consulate and TVU could work in the future and other opportunities for English language teachers to work with the U.S. government.


Ms Diane then visited the Access classroom and conducted a one hour teaching activity. She asked the students about their studies, and posed questions about US culture and history.


The U.S. government has funded the Access Program all over the world. TVU is honoured to be part of this program that enables participants developing English language skills.

 (TVU) – May 16, 2017, Dr. Tao-Jen Pan, President of Taiwan- Vietnam Economic Cultural and Educational Development Association and Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University (TVU) signed a MoU on cultural and educational development at TVU.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed his gratitude to Dr. Tao-Jen Pan and the delegation for the visit and the MoU ceremony. “Some TVU lecturers graduated and some are pursuing their PhD program at Taiwan universities. This makes our co-operation more convenient”, said the Vice Rector.


Dr. Tao-Jen Pan emphasized: “Under the co-operative framework, we will hold cultural and scientific events between Taiwan universities and Tra Vinh University as well as provide soft skills on culture and language to Vietnamese students in order to help them to adapt new environment easily when studying in Taiwan, especially introduce job opportunities to graduated students”.


After the MoU ceremony, Taiwan- Vietnam Economic Cultural and Educational Development Association delivered the introduction about Taiwan summer study tour to Tra Vinh students at Laboratory School, TVU.

 (TVU) –23 April 2017, a seminar on shipbuilding was held at Tra Vinh University with participation of many entrepreneurs coming from Japan and Vietnam as well as TVU faculties and students.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung said: “The seminar helps entrepreneurs, scientists and educators have great opportunity to discuss co-operative potentials for development of shipbuilding in Tra Vinh. It is also good chance for students to widen their knowledge about this field and enhance their awareness about job opportunity on shipbuilding in future.”


Takauchi company and Tra Vinh University are going to co-operate to develop curricular and train faculties on shipbuilding. By the way, the experts share how to approach advanced technology on shipbuilding in Japan.


“We are willing to co-operate with you all to develop shipbuilding in Tra Vinh and Mekong Delta”, said Mr. Yoshiaki Hirohata, shipbuilding expert coming from Japan.

 (TVU) – The 4th Asian-Australian Dairy Goat International Conference with the theme “Breeding Development of Dairy Goat for climate change adaptation” is going to be taken place from October 17 to October 19, 2018 at Tra Vinh University, Vietnam.



There will be around 200 participants who are scientists, experts and managers coming from international universities, institutions and enterprises in United States of America, Australia, Japan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.


The conference focuses on discussions about breeding and genetics, feed and nutrition, dairy goat management, health and diseases, milk and milk products, greenhouse gas emissions and climate change adaptation.


It is a great opportunity to display the achievements on the field of dairy goat, deliver scientific reports on breeding stock, nutrition, feed, management, diseases, environment, market prices, processing technologies of milk and products from goat milk, solutions for goat breeding to adapt climate change and research proposals in the coming time.


The conference is considered as a forum for the experts, scientists and participants to share experience and search cooperating opportunities about training, research, production and services on the above issues.

TVU- Tra Vinh University delegation headed by Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector visited collaborative universities in the Philippines from March 15 to 22, 2017. 


MoU signing ceremony between Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Central Philippine University (CPU)


TVU and CPU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the TVU - CPU partnership. With a history of over 100 years of establishment, the CPU takes the 28th place out of 216 Philippine universities in the 2017 ranking according to UniRank ™ criteria. In the signed MOU, both TVU and CPU jointly expressed their interest in research cooperation and exchange of students and faculty.

During the visit to Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) –the traditional partner of TVU, a great number of solutions have been discussed to support graduates to work at TVU (mainly teaching English), and other fields of expertise which require staff with English competence. In addition, long-term faculty exchange (1 year) was also considered to be promoted to support the two institutions with high-qualified human resources in management and training. In the direction of collaborative research, both institutions agreed to promote book compilation and joint research activities. Results from these collaborative research programs are expected to contribute to the International Conference between TVU - SLSU and Philippine partners which is scheduled to be held in the second quarter of 2018. "TVU and SLSU have become reliable partners for many years, and fully mutual understanding has been achieved through collaborative training activities. It is now time to take this relationship to a new level through the facilitation of research cooperation and faculty exchange.", emphasized Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung at the meeting.

TVU delegation also took this opportunity to visit Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU). The two institutions agreed to jointly sign a MOU on which TVU will recruit interns from LSPU. A part from teaching English, LSPU expressed their interest in the need to expand student internships placement and faculty exchange. It was agreed to create favorable conditions to support students from both universities in preparation for student exchange programs such as free-of-charge language training courses in 3 to 6 months prior to the exchange.

As one of the important activities of the trip, the delegation attended the reappointment ceremony of Chairman Jude A. Duarte at Leyte Normal University (LNU). At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung on behalf of TVU expressed his pleasure to witness the increasingly profound relationship between the two universities and sent the congratulations of the Rector of TVU to Dr. Jude A. Duarte on this special occasion. In response to this sincerity, Dr. Jude A. Duarte sincerely thanked the Rector of TVU and the delegation. At the ceremony, LNU team also performed a Vietnamese traditional dance as a gift to the delegation and in order to emphasize the increasingly profound partnership between the two universities.

(TVU) – Tra Vinh University co-operated with Neurological Association in HCM City and doctors from Pitiè – Salpeetrière University Hospital and Lille University Hospital, France to hold the international conference on neurology on March 17, 2017 at Campus 1.


The conference attracted more than 100 French and Vietnamese neurologists, the head of Tra Vinh Health Department, representatives from provincial and regional general hospitals, lecturers and students of School of Medicine and Pharmacy, TVU.

The conference included speeches such as the complications of cerebrovascular accident and relieving headaches; the overview and treatment of epileptic children, and convulsion in infants. Epileptic issues and and cerebrovascular accident are main themes of this conference.

Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector said: “The conference is a great opportunity for experts to share their knowledge and experience about neurologic science. It also helps TVU lecturers and students to widen their knowledge”.

(TVU) – On the morning of February 22, 2017, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector warmly welcomed the delegation from Global Citizen Program, Canada led by Ms. Laurence Pazlar, International Development Specialist. This visit was to explore the interns’ life and working conditions at this university.



In the meeting, the supervisors presented these interns’ performance and contribution to TVU. The Vice Rector said “TVU always facilitates interns for accomplishing their tasks at our university. We highly appreciate their great contribution to TVU for its development”. Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung looks forward to receiving academic and research projects from Canadian partners to tighten and strengthen the friendship between TVU and Canadian universities and institutions.


“It is my pleasure to have opportunity to visit the interns. I hope you all quickly adapt the new environment and fulfill your missions. I hope TVU continues to facilitate the interns during their time here and receive more interns from Canada in the future”, said Ms. Laurence.

(TVU) - The formal meeting between Tra Vinh University and Asian Institute Technology in Vietnam (AITVN) took place on February 21, 2017 for signing a Memorandum of Understanding to co-operate Master training program on climate change adaption.


The Vice Rector expressed his gratitude to AITVN for cooperating and supporting TVU in the field of human resource training and boosting the bilateral cooperative relation between the two organizations.

In the meeting, TVU and AITVN took counsel and contributed their opinions together about the contents of the Master program on climate change adaption presented by Dr. William Swieczek, AITVN Director. The aim of the program was to tackle the issues that the provinces in Mekong Delta were confronting, especially climate change effects to water, farming activities, and drought. 

Dr. William Swieczek emphasized that AITVN will continue to assist TVU during the implementation of this program and offer full scholarships to TVU learners in Asian Institute Technology in Thailand.

In this interaction, TVU lecturers delivered presentations including “Influence of saline intrusion to agricultural products at Tra Vinh” and “Producing Spriulia algae from the waste water”.

The formal meeting between leaders of Tra vinh University (TVU) and Sanyou Fukushikai Social Welfare (SFSW) led by Mr. Tomiyama Yoshimasa, Chairman of the Board took place on February 7, 2017 at Tra Vinh University in the scope of further discussion of contents agreed by the two parties on the visit of TVU to Japan last December.




 “This is our first time to Tra Vinh. We are very happy to be warmly and heartily welcomed. We hope that our collaboration will bring out success and foster with long-term impacts as in our mutual agreement”, said Mr. Tomiyama Yoshimasa.


Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector expressed his gratitude to the delegation for the visit and said: “We hope our both sides will further tie the relationship in order to reach the common goal.”


After the meeting, the delegation had the visit to some medical practice sections in TVU School of Medicine-Pharmacy and on-campus dormitory.


 Sanyou Fukushikai Social Welfare was established in 1998 with the objective for social welfare and human benefit. Currently, this organization possesses 12 elderly care establishments and is planning to inaugurate its 13th establishment.
