With a history of over 100 years of establishment, the CPU takes the 28th place out of 216 Philippine universities in the 2017 ranking according to UniRank ™ criteria. In the signed MOU, both TVU and CPU jointly expressed their interest in research cooperation and exchange of students and faculty.

During the visit to Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) –the traditional partner of TVU, a great number of solutions have been discussed to support graduates to work at TVU (mainly teaching English), and other fields of expertise which require staff with English competence. In addition, long-term faculty exchange (1 year) was also considered to be promoted to support the two institutions with high-qualified human resources in management and training. In the direction of collaborative research, both institutions agreed to promote book compilation and joint research activities. Results from these collaborative research programs are expected to contribute to the International Conference between TVU - SLSU and Philippine partners which is scheduled to be held in the second quarter of 2018. "TVU and SLSU have become reliable partners for many years, and fully mutual understanding has been achieved through collaborative training activities. It is now time to take this relationship to a new level through the facilitation of research cooperation and faculty exchange.", emphasized Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung at the meeting.

TVU delegation also took this opportunity to visit Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU). The two institutions agreed to jointly sign a MOU on which TVU will recruit interns from LSPU. A part from teaching English, LSPU expressed their interest in the need to expand student internships placement and faculty exchange. It was agreed to create favorable conditions to support students from both universities in preparation for student exchange programs such as free-of-charge language training courses in 3 to 6 months prior to the exchange.

As one of the important activities of the trip, the delegation attended the reappointment ceremony of Chairman Jude A. Duarte at Leyte Normal University (LNU). At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung on behalf of TVU expressed his pleasure to witness the increasingly profound relationship between the two universities and sent the congratulations of the Rector of TVU to Dr. Jude A.
