(TVU) – On April 18, four TVU excellent students were honor to receive Hessen scholarships 2018 with the value of 5,800,000 VND/ each.

In the year 2017 - 2018, Hessian State Ministry for Science and Art and World University Service (WUS), Germany have offered 22 scholarships to qualified students in Mekong Delta with the value of 5,800,000 VND/each.

Delivering his speech, Dr. Bui Cong Dao, Chief Representative of Hessen Office in Vietnam said: “We are very pleased with the four students’ learning achievements. We believe these scholarships will encourage them to overcome their financial obstacles to pursue their studies. Receiving these prestigious scholarships also helps them increase learning and working opportunities in Germany.”

“We would like to express our gratitude to the sponsors. These scholarships are going to be spent on our learning”, said student Vo Thi Ngoc Diem, a scholarship recipient.

Hessen scholarships aim at supporting excellent students facing with financial difficulties or living in remote and disadvantaged areas. Female and ethnic minority students are prioritized to receive these meaningful ones.

The scholarship fund of Hessian State Ministry for Science and Art and World University Service (WUS) has been established in Vietnam since 1993. It offers 150 to 300 scholarships to Vietnamese students annually. This scholarship program is highly evaluated for its practical meaning.

Seminar on labor supply for businesses

(TVU) – On April 10, 2018, a seminar on labor supply for businesses was organized by Tra Vinh University and Management Board of Tra Vinh Provincial Economic Zone with the participation of over 10 enterprises located in Tra Vinh province.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Kha, Vice Director of TVU Career Center, the businesses have presented their lack of qualified human resources and expected that TVU provides them with skilled human resources..  

 

 TVU Vice Rector Tran Van Trong expressed: “It is our pleasure to supply human resources to enterprises. We can meet your demands for qualified human resources.”

 

This seminar promises many job opportunities for TVU students  after their graduation.

(TVU) – On April 4, more than 20 TVU staff participated in the seminar “Gender sensitivity in the workplace” delivered by Dr. Eden R. Divinagracia, Executive Director of Philippine NGO Council on Population Health & Welfare, Inc. (PNGOC) in Campus 1, TVU.

At the seminar, gender issues in both families and workplaces have been actively and deeply discussed. “Gender inequality still exists. Gender awareness enhancement leads to positive thinking”, said Dr. Divinagracia.

After the lively discussion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector and Dr. Eden R. Divinagracia have signed a MoU to enhance research capacity on gender equality, carry out research projects on population, healthcare, gender as well as family planning, and seek sponsors for community-based activities to empower women, people with disabilities, and people belonging to different cultural groups.

 

Rector Pham Tiet Khanh highly evaluated the seminar and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Eden R. Divinagracia and the delegation for the fruitful visit.

Tra Vinh street workout, which attracts 50 participants, has been established in this province for 6 months by TVU students in the purpose of improving physical and spiritual health for TVU students in particular and for Tra Vinh youth in general.

 TVU student Lê Ngọc Tiến, School of Economics and Law has introduced street work-out to Tra Vinh youth. Tiến said: “I used to go to the gym. However, I have then found that work-out is one of the easiest sports because of its basic movements. Nevertheless, this exercise is very frustrating since it is certain to get pain at the beginning of practice. It requires the endurance and strong passion of the participants”.

 

“It was easy for our son to get sick because of his weak resistance. Fortunately, his health and his communicative skills have been much improved after participating in this work-out,” said a parent.

“Ươm mầm xanh tri thức” program has been established since January 2014 by Tra Vinh University and Tra Vinh Broadcast Station with great contribution from sponsors including Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in Tra Vinh, Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) in Tra Vinh and kind individuals.

According to its coordinators, the program has been offering 320 scholarships to students with the total budget of over 1.1 billion VND. The beneficiaries have been students learning at Tra Vinh University and high schools, facing income and health problems but having strong will to go through the obstacles and pursue their studies.

Tran Thi Thuy Trang, TVU student said: “It is my honor to receive this scholarship. I sincerely give my big thanks to Tra Vinh University and the sponsors. This financial source is going to be spent on tuition fees and books. I also hope that this program will continue to maintain to help more students.”

In spite of being students, the beneficiaries are breadwinners in their families and they need to work very hard after classroom hours to get meager income for their whole families’ food and medicine. Seeing the great meaning of these scholarships to students, Tra Vinh University continues to call for contribution and funding from individuals and organizations to help the poor students to pursue their learning dreams.

(TVU) - In annual March-April, Tra Vinh University (TVU) celebrates Chôl – Chnăm – Thmây which is one of traditional festivals of Khmer people. This year’s event has been taken place with a variety of exciting and meaningful activities, attracting the participation of thousands of students, staff and teachers.

“I am very happy to be a representative of Cambodian overseas students at Tra Vinh University to take part in the singing contest in the welcome of Chôl – Chnam – Thmây festival. This is my unforgettable moment in Vietnam”, a Cambodian student happily expressed.

"This festival gives chances for students, especially Khmer students and Cambodian overseas students to join cultural and arts exchange activities”, said Mr. Phan Huu Phuc, Head of TVU Student Dormitory.

 

TVU Vice Rector Thach Thi Dan emphasized: "The celebration of welcome to Chôl – Chnam – Thmây 2018, which is one of ways to preserve and develop Khmer culture and arts values, has taken place successfully with many performances, attracting many students including high school students and Cambodian overseas students.”

On this occasion, the university offered 14 scholarships with 500,000 VND/each to disadvantaged students.

(TVU) - On April 1st, Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Internal Affair department of Tra Vinh City co-organized the training course on public mobilization and communication skills at the workplace for staff in Tra Vinh City.

Mr. Duong Thanh Tai-Deputy director of The Internal Affair department, Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh-Dean of TVU school of State Management, Office Administration and Tourism, Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang-representative of National Academy of Public Administration, and over 70 staff learners attended this course.      


This two-day training course consisted of two topics. The first topic discussed issues on staff’s communication skills, regulations and methodology of creating a good image at the workplace, presented by Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh. The second topics by Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang focused on mobilizing people in the local communities.

“This training course is very beneficial to us, helping improve knowledge and necessary skills in public communication. I hope that such the training course will be delivered at Tra Vinh University for more learners next time” Diep Bao Ngoc, a learner in this course said.

 (TVU) - On March 3, Tra Vinh University (TVU) in coordination with ZIM Center organized an overseas study consultancy session to over 100 TVU students who are planning to pursue their education in Australia. Ms. Nguyen Thị Mai-Business Director, representative of ZIM Center, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Kha, Deputy Director of TVU Employment Support Center and the students attended this consulting session.

This session provided students with IELTS program in ZIM Center and necessary information about studying and working policies in Australia. Many questions from students related to programs, learning environment and policies were answered at the session.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Kha said: “Overseas study offers students with ample opportunities to experience a quite new environment, thereby helping them approach new source of knowledge and especially foster their personal development.”


Taking this opportunity, ZIM Center offered 05 scholarship awards with 10 million VND per each to five TVU students who are planning to join IELTS course at the Center.

(TVU) - In March, Tra Vinh University has organized exchange activities successfully with 12 boarding high schools of ethnic minority students within and outside the province.

A variety of practical exchange activities took place including performance, sports, career orientation and enrolment to high school students in the provinces of Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, etc.

 

Within this exchange program, two sides of Tra Vinh University and the Boarding High Schools of Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, An Giang and Kien Giang provinces signed Memoranda of Understanding on training, research and career orientation for students.

 

Mr. Thach Song, principal of Huynh Cuong Boarding High School, Soc Trang province said: “I have found that Tra Vinh University offers good learning environment and I hope that students will choose a proper career for their future, especially in Khmer language and culture.”

(TVU) - On the evening of March 24, Mr. Tran Van Trong, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University lighted up with the camping fire on the campus marking the 87th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union with the participation of over 3,000 TVU youths.

At the camping site, several attractive activities took place with the impressive performances by TVU students such as music performances, fashion show and outdoor game activities.   

 

Speaking at the event, the Vice Rector highly appreciated the achievements that the youths have obtained during last years. He said: “Young generation continues to cultivate talent and conduct in study as well as in social activity involvement in order to become a good member in society.”

In order to responding Earth Hour campaign, all tents turned off the light since 20h30 along with the message ‘Go More Green” which aims at calling for actions of energy savings for a greener and more sustainable environment.

 

This year’s camping event took place within two days from March 24-25 with 79 tents along with displaying booths related to local specialty and youth’s business activity.
