On September 29th and 30th, 2012, TVU formally organized Degree awarding and Closing Ceremony to 1,322 graduates included 629 at university level, 419 at college level and 274 at intermediate level. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU participated and awarded diplomas and degrees to the new graduates.

Participating this ceremony, there were the four Vice- Rectors of TVU, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Mr. Le Van Don, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai and Ms. Thach Thi Dan; representatives of TVU Advisory Council, universities, colleges and enterprises from provinces; press, the students' parents and TVU students.

 In  his opening speech at the ceremony in the morning of September 29th, 2012, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU congratulated the new graduates. He shared with the students  the importance of  reaching to real working environment, he encouraged the graduates for lifelong learning, being confident and not being frustrated if dealing with failure. He also shared that knowledge and experience that they have learned from educational environment help them to deal with issues in life.

 In  the speech at the ceremony in the morning of September 30th, 2012, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai, Vice Rector of TVU praised TVU instructors' devotion in their teaching process and the students' efforts. During their studying time at TVU, they have had opportunity to learn working styles and basic knowledge on theory and practical skills in accordance with their areas of study to meet society needs.

At the ceremony, the merit graduates Nguyen Duong Thu Nguyet, Ha Tan Luc, Vo Thi My Tien, Le Thi Hien Trang, Son Van Dong, Than Thi Le Hang received their awards and certificates of Merit. There were 14 best college level and intermediate level students. At the ceremony, Vo Thi Bich Viet, the immediate level student of Accounting Class B, Faculty of Economics, Laws and Foreign Languages expressed “After two years, our biggest change is to become more mature and we are equipped necessary skills to be confident to fulfill our prospective jobs”.

In the hope of giving many employment opportunities to TVU students and creating chances for them to interact with enterprises, TVU organized "Employment and Career Orientation Day" and "Ceremony of School Year Closing and Delivering Degrees and Diplomas to Graduates" parallel. "Employment and Career Orientation Day" was taken place in the morning of September 30th, 2012 in Hall 1, TVU with the presence of representatives of 14 enterprises from Tra Vinh province and other provinces.

Participating in the opening part of "Employment and Career Orientation Day 2012", there were Mr. Thach Sone, Vice-Chief of Tra Vinh Provincial Propaganda  Board, representatives of provincial and district departments and enterprises from provinces. Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of TVU participated and delivered her opening speech.


Participating in this interesting event, TVU students had opportunities to interact with representatives of enterprises, be consulted about their prospective jobs and participate in interviews to get stable jobs. There were 876 applications sent to enterprises directly. Delivering her opening speech, Ms. Thach Thi Dan expressed her gratitude to enterprises, employers and sponsors for their presence and support. She expected that TVU students are confident enough to approach and select appropriate and stable jobs.

This is an annual event of TVU to give many employment opportunities to TVU students after their graduation. These activities are to tighten the relation between TVU and enterprises. This event is also a good opportunity for enterprises to employ excellent employees.

In the morning of September 24th, 2012, Tra Vinh University welcomed Mr. Maurice Gallant, the instructor of English Language Centre, VIU, Canada to work at the university. At the first meeting with Mr. Maurice Gallant, there were Mr. Le Van Don – Vice Rector of TVU and representatives of International Collaboration and Project Promotion Office (ICO) and Center of International Collaboration in Education and Training (Cicet).

Mr. Maurice Gallant has experienced in teaching English for 20 years in Canada, China, Japan and Korea. At TVU, he will work with Cicet in the period of 5 weeks to instruct English for TVU students and give training courses on teaching methods for TVU instructors as required.


At the meeting, Mr. Le Van Don expressed his gratitude and hoped that Mr. Maurice Gallant practically effective working time at TVU.

On September 14th, 2012, TVU welcomed Prof. Dr.  Ton Vroeijenstijn and delivered a discussion section on quality assurance system and AUN criteria at workshop 4. Welcoming and working with Prof. Dr. Ton Vroeijenstijn, there was Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of TVU, on behalf of TVU Board, departments and staff.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ton Vroeijenstijn introduced and mastered the discussion about the  concerned issues on internal quality assurance system development in accordance with AUN criteria and international development; developing tools for self-assessment and learning how to  gather evidence. Quality assurance is indispensable in the process of higher education quality maintenance and improvements.

On behalf of TVU Board, Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of TVU, expressed her gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ton Vroeijenstijn for his sharing.  Ms. Thach Thi Dan stated that Prof. Dr. Ton Vroeijenstijn's shared experience is a great contribution to TVU in developing educational quality management system.

In the morning of September 14th, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) formally organized the Opening Ceremony for the Undergraduate Program 2012, major in Development Economics in part-time form. Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Standing Commissioner of Tra Vinh Provincial Communist Party Committee and Vice president of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee attended the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, President of UEH; Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU; Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of TVU Advisory Council; representatives of Tra Vinh Provincial Communist Party Committee; Department of Home Affairs and lecturers of the two Universities and 118 new students.


This course is under the Project of planning and developing human resource for the social and economic development in the period from 2011 to 2020 in Tra Vinh province. Its aim is to widen their knowledge, enhance their executive and manageable capacity as well as mission implementation capacity of governmental officials in the province. On this occasion, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh congratulated 118 new students and expressed his expectation to the students’ efforts to obtain the best results during the course. He also expressed his gratitude to Tra Vinh Provincial Communist Party Committee, Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee and related Departments for their support and expressed his sincere thanks to UEH for the co-operation in training and developing human resource for Tra Vinh province in particular and Mekong Delta in general.

In the morning of September 17, 2012, Rector of TVU had a meeting with Dr. Truong Tri Vu, President & CEO of EcoloCap Solutions Group, Canada.  Participating the meeting, there were Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of TVU Advisory Council, Mr. Le Van Don, Vice Rector of TVU, Mr. Dang Vu Hoang, Director of Axius Co.Ltd in Long Duc Industrial Park and TVU departments’ representatives at Workshop 1. It was discussed the invitation of Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh for Dr. Truong Tri Vu to become a member of Advisory Council.

At the meeting, a representative of TVU had an overall introduction of the establishment and development in terms of the co-operation relationship between TVU and the internal and external partners. Dr. Truong highly evaluated the achievements of cooperation and training activities, especially the Co-op program, a co-operational education model between TVU and enterprises.


On this occasion, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh offered a position to be the member of TVU Advisory Council for Dr. Truong Tri Vu to give his consultation on the Co-op program, soft skills training courses for students, establishing the relationship between TVU and Université de Montréal, Canadaas well as looking forward to be consulted about majors of waste treatment,environmental protection and training programs associated with soft skills.

Closing the warm meeting, Dr. Truong Tri Vu received the Decision from Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh and has become an official member of Advisory Council of TVU.

The overall meeting

In the afternoon of September 22nd, 2012, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU; Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of TVU Advisory Council and Mr. Le Van Don, Vice Rector of TVU welcomed and worked with Ms.  Liane Roy, President and CEO of CCNB and Ms.  Annette Comeau, President and CEO of Learnsphere Canada Inc.

                At the meeting, the parties had opportunity to explore their institutional activities to seek educational co-operation opportunities. CCNB is a very successful institution in supporting its foreign institutions in professional and technical training, is flexible to meet local economic conditions and focuses on community integration involving labor market needs.

                This visit  created new co-operation opportunities for the two institutions. Closing the meeting, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh expressed his gratitude to Ms. Liane Roy and Ms. Annette Comeau and  expected the two parties to continue to explore  opportunities  for  international co-operation projects of CCNB and tighten this mutually developmental relation.
