In earlier November 2017 in Indonesia, Dr. Lam Thai Hung-Dean of TVU School of Agri-aquaculture and Prof. Ali Agus-Dean of UGM School of Animal Science signed a Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation with the witness of Prof. Panut Mulyono-UGM Rector.




In the scope of MOU, two sides agreed to collaboration in the fields of student and faculty member exchange, scientific research publications, and other potential academic domains.


As part of this visit, Dr. Lam Thai Hung attended the celebration of UGM School of Animal Science and visited some camp sites and production establishments.   


Prof. Ali Agus informed that Tra Vinh University will become an official member of the Southeast Asian Livestock Education Network.


Taking this opportunity, Dr. Lam Thai Hung also had a collaborative discussion with Prof. Aera Jang from Kangwon National University, Korea on education, scientific research and student and faculty member exchange, which is estimated to reach a memorandum of understanding in 2018.

(TVU) -On the afternoon of November 11, 2017, the Sports festival opened on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day at Tra Vinh University playing field.




Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Dang Diep Minh Tan, Vice Chairman of the University Labor Union said: “The sports festival is held with the aim at setting up the achievements for the big event of Vietnam Teachers' Day on November 20, as well as offering staff and faculty members opportunity for involving physical training activity and also seeking for sports talents.”


This event is taking place from November 11 to 19 in various kinds of sports attracting enthusiastic participation from staff and faculty members within the whole university. This is also great opportunity for the whole TVU staff and faculty members to exchange experience, keep good health and foster solidarity.


Chau Van Ngoan, a TVU member showed his promise to do his best in this sports event in the spirit of learning and experience exchange between the teams.




After the opening ceremony, athletes began the marathon competition-the first part of this sports festival.

(TVU) - On November 6, 2017, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University (TVU) welcomed Ms. Ilse Berber Schenk, Netherlands expert on her working visit at TVU.



The Vice Rector said: "We highly evaluate the important role of experts from foreign countries. In particular, the Netherlands is a beautiful country with state-of-the-art education where a number of TVU lecturers have studied. We also hope that your three week business trip will achieve the expected results which will be a good start for opening up more collaborative opportunities, especially in prospective projects."


Delivering a speech at the meeting, Ms. Ilse Berber Schenk said that Tra Vinh University is a dynamic educational environment with the quick approach to the global developmental trend. During her work at Tra Vinh University, she will provide as much assistance as possible with regard to potential projects as well as Holland scholarship opportunities for TVU students and faculty members.

(TVU) – On November 7, 2017, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector warmly welcomed the project assessment team from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and representatives of Tra Vinh AMD Project Coordination Board in campus 1, TVU. 



At the meeting, TVU presented the implementation of the fisheries analysis and testing project to improve values of brackish shrimp in Tra Vinh province as well as the implementation process of three projects related to climate change conducted by lecturers of School of Agriculture and Aquaculture, TVU.


Mr. Cornelis Hubrencht Blok, the Head of the delegation offered positive comments about the accomplished components of the fisheries analysis and testing project and expected that the remaining components are going to be completed on time.




Mr. Roshan Cooke, Regional Environment and Climate Specialist, Asia and the Pacific Region believed that the three projects are very practical and agreeable to natural conditions in Tra Vinh province. And they can be conducted in Mekong Delta because of their possibility. 


Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung highly appreciated this working visit and expressed his pleasure for the projects’ initial results. He expected to receive more supports from IFAD to enhance research and technology transfer. 


 After the meeting, the delegation took a tour to TVU research models.

(TVU)-Since November 5, student football team of Tra Vinh University (TVU) has attended the final round of the 2017 National Student Football Championship in Hanoi.

Mr. Tram Quoc Nam, coach of TVU football team said that the finalists of this tournament consists of 16 teams representing universities and colleges nationwide, and TVU is honored to represent the Mekong Delta region to attend this final round.


“This is the first time that Tra Vinh University students have participated in this big football event, through which we have more chances to exchange and learn experiences from other university football teams, especially promote physical training and talent.” expressed Nguyen Huynh Cau, a football team member.


In the spirit of the whole team, TVU football team is making their efforts in this final football match and leaves the best impression on the image of Tra Vinh University to the organizing committee, the football teams as well as fans.


The live tournament has opened since November 7, 2017 at the stadium of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and broadcasted on VTV6 - Vietnam Television.

(TVU) - On October 28, 2017, Tra Vinh University (TVU) teachers and students began on their first day in the training course "Health Care for the Elderly" at the Shikahara No Sato Health Care Center, Sanyo Fukushikai Social Welfare Corp. (SFSW), Japan.




Mr. Yoshimasa Tomiyama-SFSW chairman and Mr. Yoshio Fukui-Director of the Shikahara No Sato Health Care Center welcomed TVU delegation taking part in this training course.


This activity is within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between TVU and SFSW; in which TVU is a training institution for nursing and adopts the training program in elderly health care from its partner. The SFSW will offer TVU students short-term training programs in the elderly health care and receive qualified nursing graduate students to work in Japan.


At the meeting, the SFSW chairman emphasized that he will support the TVU trainees during this course and hoped that they will prepare the necessary conditions for working in Japan after graduation. He added that the SFSW will introduce employment opportunities for students and expect many students to join such courses in the future.


In this course, TVU students had the opportunity for Japanese cultural experience and acquired communicative skills with the elderly. They highly appreciated this training course as well as apprenticeship opportunities in the SFSW, bringing great opportunity for TVU faculty members and students to broaden their professional experience and career orientation.



(TVU) - On the morning of October 28th, Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Thai Nguyen University of Education (Thai Nguyen University) held a scientific workshop on "Conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the South West in the context of integration and development" at Tra Vinh University.




Over 100 delegates from the two universities and researchers, students from TVU’s school of Southern Khmer Language, Culture and Arts attended.


 At the opening speech, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai, TVU Vice Rector emphasized: "Traditional culture of ethnic minority people is precious heritage contributing to the diversity of the Vietnamese cultural identity in the modern context. The preservation and promotion of these values in the South West during the period of globalization is crucial, contributing to promoting the economic development of the country."


The Vice Rector added that the scientific researches provide opportunity for exchanging useful information and presenting difficulties which are valuable experiences for future researches.  


According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Thanh Quy, Deputy Director of the Social and Humanity Research Institute, preserving cultural values and treasures of folklore is very vital and urgent when the number of ethnic groups is gradually decreasing with the limitation of successor, in particular more importantly in the mountainous ethnic groups and in the South West as these values are constantly changing and at the risk of fading or disappearing.


She also highly appreciated the research themes on the roles and solutions to conservation and promotion of the cultural values presented in the workshop.





(TVU)- On October 26, 2017, Tra Vinh University held the scientific research workshop “Applications of technological process and probiotics in shrimp aquaculture and organic production” with the coordination of Department of Tra Vinh Provincial Science and Technology, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.




The workshop attracted over 200 participants being scientists, representatives of enterprises and departments of Science and Technology in the Mekong Delta region, households and students in specialized fields.


The key themes related to agriculture and aquaculture included application of models and probiotics in shrimp aquaculture, organic agricultural production, seed handling, water quality increase and environmental protection.


Mr. Dong Van Lam, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee said: “The province’s leaders will partner scientists and offer favourable conditions in all aspects towards the simultaneous and modern development in scientific and technological field.”


“Sustainability-driven shrimp raising is able to meet the current demand without causing potentially negative impacts on the next generation, contributing to economic efficiency, equal society and environmental protection.”, said Mr. Vo Dong Duc, Institute of Chemical Technology.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cong, Vice-President of the Academy of Science and Technology said: “This workshop offers us opportunity for coming up with solutions and effective applications of models into production practice.”









(TVU)- On October 19, 2017, Tra Vinh University (TVU) and Tra Vinh province libraries signed the agreement on information sharing.




Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Thach Thi Dan, TVU Vice Rector underlined the importance on this cooperation, especially exploring online resources which serve the reading demand of community.


Mr. Tran Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism suggested that two sides collaboratively provide with necessary sources and use a consistent system towards life-long learning and the expansion of its scale to the whole province, bringing reading resources to community.

Bilingual dictionary project validated

(TVU)- October 26, 2017, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Bui Van Ga - Chairman of the Project Validation Committee of Viet-Khmer, Khmer-Viet bilingual dictionary presided the project evaluation meeting.

Viet-Khmer, Khmer-Viet bilingual dictionary compilation project is a scientific work carried out by Tra Vinh University under the overall management of the Vietnamese government.  This project has also received the massive supports from Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport in Cambodia in the dictionary consultancy and editing.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Sy Tuan- member of the project validation committee said: “In addition to the valuable consultancy from experts, the project has been undertaken scientifically on the basis of empirical research, achieving the standard of a modern dictionary.”   


The Deputy Minister highly evaluated the intensive work of this bilingual dictionary compilation team, attaining the set objective and meeting the demand of learners, especially students and community. This compilation work was conducted based on the modern method ensuring both quality and quantity of a bilingual compilation project, especially this dictionary completed in the event of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations.
