In the morning of August 17, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) was honored to welcome the delegation of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Kingdom of Cambodia led by H.E. PHOUNG Sakona, Secretay of State. At TVU’s side, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU, other Vice Rectors such as Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Mr. Le Van Don, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai along with leaders of Faculties, Offices and Centers of TVU welcomed the delegation.

On this visit, besides working with TVU, the delegation of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport also paid a visit to Tra Vinh People’s Committee. At the office of Committee, Mrs. Son Thi Anh Hong- Vice Chairwoman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee welcomed the Delegation. At the reception, the delegation of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport kindly discussed with leaders of Tra Vinh Province as well as TVU on the cooperation of education, particularly the cooperation between TVU with Institutes and Universities of Cambodia.

Additionally, Dr. PHOEURNG Sakana appreciated the authentic cooperative activities between TVU and Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in previous time. She also promised to create favorable conditions for TVU as well as some Institutes and Universities of Cambodia in organizing entrance exam in Cambodia and in Vietnam and to give supports for TVU in getting higher degrees of Khmer at Royal University of Phnom Penh.

On this occasion, two students of TVU were chosen to get the scholarships for studying at ITC in this school year.

After the reception, Dr. PHOEURNG Sakana had a meeting with Gender and Community Department of TVU; had an exchange with TVU’s students; took a tour around the facilities of TVU and together with leaders of TVU planted a tree as a souvenir.

The visit of the delegation of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Kingdom of Cambodia is very meaningful to TVU, it will give TVU more opportunities for cooperating and enhancing the friendship and developing the education between TVU and other Institutes and Universities of Cambodia, especially ITC.

On August 4th, 2012, Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) held the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Ceremony with Vital English Vietnam, Australia at Tra Vinh University (TVU). At TVU’s side, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh- President of Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) and Rector of TVU along with representatives of Faculties and Offices of TVU welcomed the Delegation. The Delegation of Vital English Vietnam was led by Mr. Jack Perry- Chief Executive Officer.

On this occasion, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh introduced the Delegation about the development and milestones as well as the activities of VACC and TVU. Also, Mr. Jack Perry gave an overview of his organization and expressed his willingness to collaborate with VACC.  

After having the agreement, Dr. PhamTiet Khanh and Mr. Jack Perry signed the MOU to mark the beginning in agreement of collaboration in the field of education.

The collaboration between VACC and Vital English Vietnam will bring more opportunities for the development of the members of VACC, including TVU in the coming time.

On July 31st, 2012, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh- Rector of Tra Vinh University (TVU) presented the Scientific Council of TVU his research named “An investigation on teaching methods of Khmer Language in Tra Vinh Province: suggestions and problems”.

The Scientific Council invited Mr. Ngo Chan Ly- a researcher of Khmer language and other teachers of Khmer language from different schools in Tra Vinh Province to give remarks on the research.

At the meeting, the participants were reported the results of the research. By making a survey, teaching some experimental periods, having class observations and other research techniques, the researchers had a profound understanding on Khmer teaching situation in Tra Vinh province and proposed some suggestions on Khmer teaching methods to improve the situation in Tra Vinh as well as in other areas of the Mekong Delta.

After reading and being reported the work, the Scientific Council confimed that this research is very authentic and meets the demand of the education in Tra Vinh province. The research was ranked A and proposed to be evaluated by the Provincial Scientific Council in the coming time.

On July 24th, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) warmly welcomed the delegation of University of Paul Sabatier -Toulouse III (UPS), France led by Prof. Dr. Sovan Lek. At TVU’s side, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Vice Rector of TVU along with leaders of International Collaboration & Promoting Project Office and Center of International Collaboration in Training & Education received the Delegation.

At the reception, the delegation of UPS was introduced some features and activities of Tra Vinh Province as well as the activities in training and research of TVU in recent years, particularly the fields of Agriculture and Technology. Concurrently, TVU had a deeper understanding   some training programs of UPS, especially its post-graduate programs.

Accordingly, both sides together had detailed discussions for future collaborations in the issues as teaching exchange, training cooperation, research exchange, etc.

After the reception, the delegation of UPS was arranged to meet representatives of lecturers and students of TVU aiming at introducing TECHNO scholarships. TECHNO scholarship belongs to TECHNO project funded by European Commission giving a full scholarship for levels of undergraduate and postgraduate in fields of Technology, Agriculture, Health, Physics, etc.

Importantly, UPS is the coordinator of TECHNO Project and TVU was honored to be chosen as one of the participants in the Project bringing more studying opportunities in Europe for lectures and students of TVU.

In the afternoon of July 21st, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) held the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing Ceremony with Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)- the Philippines. At TVU side, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh- Rector of TVU, Mr. Tran Hoan Kim- President of Advisory Board, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Ms. Thach Thi Dan –  TVU’s Vice Rectors along with representatives of Faculties and Departments. On this occasion, TVU and SLSU mutually exchanged an overview of forming, education and training activities, as well as research ones at both sides and had an agreement  to sign an MOU to have collaboration on the issues as researching cooperation, exchanging teaching and research experiences and other fields of science and education.
On behalf of TVU’s Rector Board, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh expressed his pleasure to welcome Dr. Gloria M.Reyes and the delegation of SLSU. Besides, to get best results for this collaboration, Dr. Khanh suggested the leaders of the faculties to have detail plans for the cooperative issues.
Also, Dr. Gloria M.Reyes showed her gratitude to TVU’s leaders for giving their teaching staff favorbale conditions during their time of teaching at TVU. She was very happy to meet the students of Master Management Course linked by SLSU and TVU as well as to see the facilities of TVU. Especially, Dr. Gloria believed that the collaboration between TVU and SLSU would be more developed.
 After the Ceremony, Dr. Gloria M.Reyes along with leaders of TVU planted a souvenir tree in campus I of TVU.

On July 19th, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) was honored to receive the delegation of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Philippines led by Dr. Gloria M. Reyes- President of SLSU to pay a visit and worked with TVU. At TVU’s side, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung- Vice Rector of TVU along with representatives of faculties and offices welcomed the delegation.

During the stay at TVU, the delegation took a tour around the four campuses of TVU and had open discusses with leaders of Center of International Collaboration in Education and Training and Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

After being introduced an overview of TVU, Dr. Gloria M. Reyes showed her interests in the multi- discipline, the multi- level courses, the transfer programs of TVU in general and of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in particular which was introduced by Mr. Phan Quoc Ngia- Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Also, the delegation visited the workshops, the labs and the facilties of the faculty such as garment workshop of Domestic Science Department, sawing workshop and auto repair workshop of Engineering-Dynamics Department and some labs of other departments of the faculty.

After having a deep understanding of TVU, Dr. Gloria M. Reyes expressed her willingness to have further collaborations with TVU in other fields as well as to get more experiences in the multi- discipline courses from TVU.

In the morning of July 15th, 2012, Tra Vinh University (TVU) solemnly held the Opening Ceremony for the part-time undergraduate Course of Law as Home Affairs Department’s demand. The participants at the Ceremony were Mr. Vo Hoang Khai- Vice Rector of TVU, Mr. Bui Van Binh- Vice Director of Tra Vinh Home Affairs Department; representatives of related offices and faculties and students of this class.

            With the coordination of Tra Vinh Home Affairs Department, TVU enrolled 99 students for this class. Most of the students have been working at different departments in Tra Vinh Province and have the demands to upgrade their qualification.

             On behalf of TVU leaders, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai- TVU Vice Rector sent his congratulations to all students of the class. In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Khai hopes that the students will manage their work and study to get the highest results. Also, Mr. Bui Van Binh- Vice Director of Tra Vinh Home Affairs Department encouraged the students to make great efforts in studying, applying what they have studied to their present professions and sugessted the leaders of the departments whose employees attend this class giving them favorable conditions to accomplish the studying program.

In the afternoon of July 1st, 2012, Congress of Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in Tra Vinh, term 2012-2017 was held at workshop 4, Tra Vinh University (TVU). The Congress was honored to welcome Mr. Tong Minh Vien - Deputy Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee coming to direct the Congress.

Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in Tra Vinh is a socio-political organization of Tra Vinh People. It is the member of the Union of Friendship Organizations in Tra Vinh and the member of Vietnam Fatherland Front in Tra Vinh. Located at 126 National Road 53, Tra Vinh city, Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in Tra Vinh was formed with the main tasks focusing on education and training, strengthening the friendship between Vietnamese and Canadian and the prosperity of the two countries.  

In its previous term, the Association completed all the tasks proposed such as the exchange between the two nations, investment opportunities for Tra Vinh, bringing the images and people of Tra Vinh to Canada and building the connection for people in Tra Vinh and Tra Vinh people living in Canada, etc.

In this new term, the Association proposed some new tasks such as promoting the propaganda, calling for investment and support from different organizations, entrepreneurs and individuals in Canada, especially, looking for cooperation opportunities in researching, culture exchanges and education exchange with privilege Institutes or universities, etc. The participants of the Congress voted 19 members for the Executive Board and Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh was voted to be the President of the Association again and three other members were voted to be Vice presidents of the Association.

On this occasion, Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in Tra Vinh held an exchange meeting with some musical items and games aiming at introducing Canada and its people to the members of the Association as well as the students of TVU.

On June 28th, 2012, the delegation of Tra Vinh Province including Mr. Tong Minh Vien- Deputy Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee along with some leaders of provincial departments and the Rector Board of Tra Vinh University attended the meeting to celebrate the 145th National day of Canada (July 1st, 1867- July 1st, 2012) held by Vietnam – Canada Friendship Association in HCM city at the Headquarters of the Union of Friendship Organizations in HCM city.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Tao - President of Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in HCM city delivered his speech to send his congratulations to Canadian on Canada Day. He also said that the cooperation between Vietnam and Canada in recent years has been more developed, especially in the areas of economy, trade, investment, development cooperation andtraining education.

After the meeting, Sir Audri Mukhopadhyay- Consul General of Canada in HCM City invited the delegation of Tra Vinh to have an exchange with his family and Canadian students at number 111 Nguyen Du Street. On this occasion, Mr. Tong Minh Vien sent his congratulations to Canadian and Sir Audri Mukhopadhyay. Concurrently, he expressed his gratitude to Canadian Government for its support to Tra Vinh in particular as well as for Vietnam in general. He hopes that the friendship between Vietnam and Canada will continue to grow better. Especially, he said that Tra Vinh really needs to get more support from Canada in education, economy, trade, investment and cooperation for sustainable development.

On June 15th, 2012, Tra Vinh University(TVU) was honored to welcome Mr. Puongpun Sananikone- Former Chairman of the Board of East-West Center, USA along with Ms. Thanh Lo Sananikone- CEO of TAF International, USA to pay a visit to TVU. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh- TVU Rector, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai, TVU Vice Rector along with related representing leaders of TVU offices welcomed the distinguished guests.

At the reception, an overview of Tra Vinh province as well as the particular activities of TVU in recent years was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Sananikone. Also, Faculty of Medical talked about its overview, the development orientation for the faculty and its need to be supported in the upcoming time.

Concurrently, leaders of TVU expressed their needs with Mr. and Mrs. Sananikone to find more sponsors for upgrading their teaching staff’s foreign language proficiency. We hope that TVU will have more opportunities to collaborate with new partners and be supported by different organizations in the near future time after the visit of Mr. and Mrs. Sananikone.
