On the basis of establishing cooperative relationship, on July 14, 2013, the delegation of Tra Vinh University (TVU) led by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of Advisory Committee and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector paid a visit to Cebu Normal University (CNU),Philippines.

TVU delegation was honourably welcomed by Dr. Marlon T. Lopez, CNU President. On this occasion, Dr. Marlon T. Lopez and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung have signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the two universities’ future cooperation in staff exchange, research in Nursing and offering master coursers. 

 

In the signing ceremony, Dr. Marlon T. Lopez and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung highly appreciated the potential cooperation and expressed their thirst for the tighter relationship. After the meeting, TVU delegation had opportunity to take a tour around CNU campuses and College of Nursing.

 

Cebu Normal University (CNU)

CNU was established in 1902 as a provincial normal school, a branch of the Philippine Normal School. It became an independent institution in 1924, a chartered college in 1976, and a university in 1998. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in Cebu. CNU has three campuses, the main campus in Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City and two extension campuses in Medellin and Balamban.

 

Tra Vinh University (TVU)

 TVU was Tra Vinh Community College (TVCC) which was established in 2001 under Vietnam Canada Community College Project. TVU has been upgraded from TVCC since 2006. There are 11 faculties and over 20,000 students. TVU offers multi levels including articulation courses and variety of flexible learning. Its mission is to provide skilled human resource and applied research.

From July 13 to July 17, 2013, the delegation of Tra Vinh University (TVU) led by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of Advisory Committee and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector paid a visit to Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Philippines.

Certificate of Recognition for Strategic Partner awarded to SLSU in the two universities’ pleasure and honor


TVU delegation was honourably welcomed by Dr. Gloria M. Reyes, SLSU President. At the meeting, TVU awarded the Certificate of Recognition for Strategic Partner to SLSU on the basis of similarity, cooperation desire and permanent trust between SLSU and TVU. The relationship between the two universities has been established since 2009 and this collaboration is to expand SLSU’s program of Master in Management in TVU. Along with this program, other cooperative areas involving the exchange of faculties, students and publication; holding international workshops and expanding SLSU’s academic programs to Vietnam and TVU’s ones to Philippines have been implemented and discussed. 

 

Closing the meeting, Dr. Gloria M. Reyes and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed their goodwill for developing the cooperative activities to be more diversified and effective. 

 

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)

SLSU is a public university in the Philippines. It is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in trade, fishery, agriculture, forestry, science, education, commerce, engineering and related courses. It is also mandated to undertake research and extension services, and provided progressive leadership in its areas of specialization. Formerly the Southern Leyte State College of Science and Technology, SLSU was converted through the passage of Republic Act 9261 on March 7, 2004. SLSU is the only college university in the province of Southern Leyte.

On the occasion of Leyte Normal University (LNU) President Investiture Program to Dr. Jude A. Duarte, the delegation of Tra Vinh University (TVU) led by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of Advisory Committee and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector paid a visit to Leyte Normal University, Philippines on July 11, 2013.

 

At the formal and honorable ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the two universities’ leader representatives in curriculum quality testing, recruiting international students, and staff and faculty capacity enhancement for offering English courses as international criteria.

Ricafoit, Commissioner of Commission on Higher Education, Philippines.

 

Leyte Normal University (LNU)

LNU came into being in 1921 as the Provincial Normal School, a mere adjunct of the Leyte High School. It eventually outgrew its base becoming a two-year collegiate training institution in 1938. It became a degree-granting four-year college complete with a training department in 1952. It was then known as Leyte Normal School.

Sometime in April 1996, the university was proclaimed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the Center of Excellence for Teacher Education in Region VIII from 1996 to 2001. Then in August 2008, CHED again awarded LNU as Center of Excellence for Teacher Education from 2008 - 2011.

Tra Vinh, June 28, 2013 - In the afternoon of June 27, Canada’s 146th Anniversary was taken place at Tra Vinh University (TVU).

Mr. Audri Mukhopadhyay, Consul General of Canada to Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice Chairwoman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee and Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector cum Chairman of Vietnam- Canada Friendship Association of Tra Vinh province honourably participated in the ceremony.

 

Mr. Audri Mukhopadhyay expressed his pleasure to the great relation between the two countries especially in co-operation on trade and education.

 

Tra Vinh province has been received much precious support to its economic social development from Canadian government and citizens since 1992. “On behalf of people in Tra Vinh province, I would like to express my gratitude to Canadian government and citizens for your great contribution”, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong said. On the occasion, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong sent her best wishes to Canadian people and the country and hoped Tra Vinh province to receive more support from Canadian government and citizens.  

 

The diplomatic relation between Vietnam and Canada has officially been established and developed since August 21, 1973. Canada has provided much help to Vietnam involving international integration.

Tra Vinh, July 2, 2013 -  In late June, Mr. Le Van Don, TVU Vice Rector welcomed and worked with the delegation of Zhanjiang Normal University (ZNU), China led by Prof. Dr. Li Jiangling, Vice President.

MOU signing ceremony tightens friendship and collaborative relation between the two universities

 

The visit reached a consensus between the two universities for collaborative programs such as ZNU lecturers and students to TVU for teaching Chinese language and for their practicum respectively, 3+1 program, which is learned for three years at ZNU and for one year at TVU, and other programs involving cultural exchange, scholar exchange and research co-operation.

 

Zhanjiang Normal University

 

Zhanjiang Normal University was established  in 1636, located in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, P.R.China. It consists of 16 faculties, nine areas of study with 56 majors which attract thousands of students annually.

A valued Filipino volunteer was presented a certificate of recognition during the evaluation meeting that was conducted on May 24, 2013 at Tra Vinh University.

Engr. Doriz Rebayla Roa, an IT instructor of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Philippines, rendered a month of significant involvement and support to Tra Vinh University particularly in the Communication and Public Promotion Center (CPPC) and Center of International Collaboration in Education and Training (CiCet).

On behalf of TVU, the Director of Communication and Public Promotion Center, Mr. Nguyen Dong Khoi personally offered his warm compliments.

The Center of International Collaboration in Education and Training (CiCet) organized a study tour for MM students last May 17-19, 2013 at An Giang and Kien Giang provinces. This is conducted as it is one of the agenda of MM program of TVU. The purpose of which, is to enhance the knowledge of students through outside activity.


The highlight of the trip took place at An Giang Lottery Company where the tactical plan reporting on “Identifying Strategies to Improve the Business Relationship between Company and Customer: The Case of An Giang Lottery Company” was conducted.  The students had the opportunity to improve their knowledge in writing and implementing their respective tactical plan. 


 The rest of the activity was spent in visiting historical places such as Ton Duc Thang Relic and Tuc Dup hill and exploring nearby towns of Kien Giang Province.

This was Prof. Diarmuid Hegarty’s first visit to TVU, which offered great opportunity for GCD and TVU to explore and discuss potential collaboration areas. After the enthusiastic discussion, the two institutions reached an agreement for MOU signing on enhancing educational and research cooperation, student and staff exchange as well as sharing academic materials, publications and information.

With great assistance of Mr. Tran Van Thuyen, Mobifone Company’s Director, the students had great opportunities to participate in many useful activities including ones regarding to the topic "Improving direct services to customers of Mobifone Company at Ca Mau branch". Besides, the group also explored some interesting places such as Dat Mui, Hon Da Bac and U Minh Ha forest in Ca Mau province.

 

This trip aims at helping learners enhance their experience as well as organizational and manageable skills relating to their theory program.

‘LIFE OF PI” VISUAL ARTS COMPETITION

Hanoi – On the occasion of the World Book Day, the Embassy of Canada and Nha Nam Culture and Communication JSC today announced the visual arts competition based on the novel ‘Life of Pi’ by Canadian author Yann Martel. The competition is open to people aged 15 to 25 years old who after reading the book or watching the film ‘Life of Pi’ visually express the central messages or themes from the book or the film. The visual arts may include, but is not limited to, drawing, painting, photography, graphic design and video. The winner will receive a BlackBerry Bold 9900 generously provided by BlackBerry.
