On April 27, 2013, TVU involving Rector Board, leader representatives of International Collaboration and Project Promotion Department, and Communication and Public Promotion Center (CPPC) warmly welcomed the volunteer Ms. Doriz R. Roa, an instructor of IT Department, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Philippines.

As planned, Ms. Doriz R. Roa has a working month at CPPC, TVU during May, 2013. At the meeting, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector expressed his gratitude to Ms. Doriz R. Roa and to SLSU President for offering TVU officials this great opportunity to work with a SLSU official.

After working at the university for some months, TVU had an amicable parting to five TVU volunteers involving Lisa Huynh, Ashley Waymann, Robin Joanne Johnston, Andrea Marie Jones and Simone Anne Longpre.

Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector and representatives of TVU departments where the volunteers have accomplished their mission including Gender and Community Department; Center of International Collaboration in Educational and Training; Center of Food Processing; Faculty of Economics, Laws and Foreign Languages were with the volunteers at this intimate meeting. 

During their working time at TVU, they work as excellent instructors to teach English to TVU staff and students and take part in organizing seminars about science research and soft skills to TVU students as well as participate in social activities.

On this occasion, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh expressed his gratitude to the volunteers for their great contribution.

Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice Chairwoman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee; Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector; TVU Rector Board and representatives of TVU departments honored to welcome Associate Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan and the delegates.


At the meeting, TVU reported to the Director General about TVU development and establishment process and its challenges as well as made recommendations to the Director General about training policies in accordance with the context of TVU and Mekong Delta.


On this occasion, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong stated that TVU plays an important role in providing human resource to Tra Vinh province and Mekong Delta. Therefore, Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee has approved the recommendations and submitted them to MOET. By the way, Ms. Hong expressed her expectation to have consideration and comments from the Director General to these proposals to help TVU develop and accomplish its mission.


On behalf of the delegation, Associate Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan highly evaluated efforts of TVU officials and great support from the Committee to TVU. Associate Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan promised to consider TVU’s requests and submit them to higher authorities. The Director General also suggested that the Committee would give more support to the university and TVU instructors should have orientation in self-study for their professional competence development to meet the educational needs.

 40th anniversary of establishing of diplomatic relations Vietnam – Canada was formally taken place in the afternoon on March 20th, 2013 at TVU by Vietnam- Canada Friendship Association of Tra Vinh province and TVU as permission of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee.





Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee; Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector cum Chairman of Vietnam- Canada Friendship Association of Tra Vinh Province; Mr. Audri Mukhopadhyay, Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City and the delegates; Canadian volunteers and enterprises, TVU Rector Board, officials and students participated in the ceremony.


Vietnam and Canada have established their diplomatic relations in trade, education and development since 1973 and Tra Vinh province has been sponsored many projects by Canadian Government in recent years. On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam expressed his gratitude to Canadian government and people for their great contribution.


Participation of delegates, Canadian volunteers and TVU students in programs of cultural and sport exchange on this occasion affirms that Vietnam- Canada relation becomes tighter.

In the morning on March 24th, 2013, a workshop on English Unlimited was taken place at TVU by Cambridge University Press and TVU Foreign Language Department to over 50 TVU instructors of English. Mr. Stuart Vinnie, Senior Training Consultant of Cambridge University Press was the presenter.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nam, Deputy-Dean of Faculty of Economics, Laws and Foreign Languages cum Head of Foreign Language Department, TVU delivered her opening speech


English Unlimited of Cambridge University Press was nominated for the 2012 ELTons in the category of Excellence in Course Innovation. The workshop aims to help the participants have overview and clearer understanding on English Unlimited so that they can offer students the most effective teaching methodologies.


Together with English Unlimited introduction, Mr. Stuart Vinnie shared his precious teaching experience to these instructors as well as conducted them how to motivate students in learning English. The workshop provided TVU instructors of English new ideas for applying to their teaching affairs.

In the celebration of Women’s Day, March 8th, TVU held many interesting activities including boxing exercises for female students, talking with successful TVU women and giving consultancy about reproductive health to students.

On the occasion of participating in Community Colleges for International Development (CCID)’s 37th Annual Conference at Atlanta, Georgia, US, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector cum VACC President paid an official visit to OSUIT from Feb 26 to Feb 27, 2013 at Oklahoma as the invitation from OSUIT. Dr. Bill R. Path, OSUIT President warmly welcomed Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh.

During the visit, Dr. Khanh and Dr. Bill have discussed co-operation opportunities between TVU and OSUIT as well as VACC and OSUIT including joint projects; consideration for a collaborative review of curriculums to explore the potential for a 2+2 or 3+2 joint program; professional development and growth opportunities for faculty and educational administrators; hosting researchers, teachers, staff, and intern students coming to the other institution for volunteering work; facilitating for full time study at OSUIT for Vietnamese students and etc…


With the collaborative discussion, the two parties reached an agreement for signing MoUs between TVU and OSUIT as well as VACC and OSUIT as the above areas.

On the occasion of instructing Teaching Profession to TVU officials, in the morning on Feb 21, 2013, Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Lan Huong offered many books named “Secret and experience of success” for students, colleted and written by Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Lan Huong and her colleagues basing their teaching experience and published by Ho Chi Minh City Education University Publishing House. Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector and officials of Teaching and Learning Center honored to welcome Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Lan Huong and received the books. On behalf of TVU, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed his sincere thanks and gave her acknowledgement for her contribution to TVU development.

In the morning on February 23rd, 2013, TVU held an opening ceremony for articulated classes including from two year program to three year program, from two year program to undergraduate program, and from three year program to undergraduate program with 852 successful candidates.

Representatives of TVU Rector Board, TVU departments and more than 300 new students attended the ceremony. The courses aim to develop the learners’ professional to meet their work requirements.


At his speech, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, TVU Vice Rector congratulated new students and had a friendly talk to the students about his precious learning experience in order to help them orientate their learning objectives and methods to get the best results.  


On this occasion, TVU offered eight gifts and certificates of merit to the best students.

In the morning on January 29th, 2013, Tra Vinh University (TVU) held an opening ceremony of the 2nd Culturology Master Class at Workshop 4. Applicants have already learnt complementary subjects as well as accomplished their entrance exam with 26 per 31 applicants passing it.

On the side of TVU, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector; Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector; leader representatives of Faculty of Linguistics, Southern Khmer Culture and Art, Department of Scientific Research and Postgraduate Affairs, instructors and successful applicants attended the ceremony.


TVU has offered Culturology majored in Southern Khmer Culture with six courses for three year program, five courses for undergraduate program and two articulated courses from three year program to undergraduate program with 400 students in total since 2006. With large population of Khmer people’s learning needs at Tra Vinh province, TVU proposed to Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) for offering this Master program to people in the purpose of human resources development.


On the behalf of TVU Rector Board, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung congratulated the successful applicants and expressed his sincere thanks to these new students for selecting TVU for persuading their studies and expressed his gratitude to MOET, Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee, Southwest Steering Committee, related departments and TVU Advisory Committee’s experts for their support.


Delivered his speech, Mr. Vo Trong Huu believed that with these new students’ great love for Vietnam culture in general and Mekong Delta culture in particular, they certainly make more efforts to accomplish their studies. He also expected that every thesis is one of practical and great solutions for wonderful Vietnam culture preservation and development as well as for social and economic development.
