Dear researchers, colleagues, and stakeholders in animal production- veterinary medicine, agriculture, environment, and economic.

 

The first Asia-Australasian Dairy Goat Conference was held on April 9th-12th, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by FAO joined with the University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Department of Veterinary Science, Malaysia and the International Dairy Federation (IDF). That provided a platform to share technical information and experiences and to network for the promotion of dairy goat farming.

 

Following the success of the Third one, the Fourth AADGC will be held in Tra Vinh University, Vietnam in October 17th- 19th, 2018. Theme of this conference is “Strengthening Development of Dairy Goat Production Adapting to Climate change”

 

The conference will be a forum for collaboration between scientists, managers, educators, national and international experts and enterprises to share experiences research results, management, veterinary and business for promoting the development of dairy goat for milk and meat and for climate change adaptation in Vietnam and in the world.

 

Tra Vinh city located in South-East of VietNam with many unique features and cultural antiquities name as Ang Pagoda, Ba Om pond,  Ba Dong Beach,... Tra Vinh city is one of the prettiest cities in the Mekong Delta, still lined with shady trees, harking back to an earlier era. With more than 140 Khmer pagodas dotting the province, Tra Vinh is a quiet place for exploring the Mekong’s little-touted Cambodian connection.

 

On the schedule time of conference, we are looking forward to you sharing your science and experiences with us after the field trip in Cu Chi district where the livestock production of dairy goat cattle located. Cu Chi is also a famous place with Cu Chi tunnels constructed during the Vietnam War, and served as headquarters for the Viet Cong. Cu Chi tunnels recognized by Misnistry of Culture as National cultural and historical relic that provide places of interest fascinating traditions, cultures, cuisines, and reappear history scenery.

On July 10, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoang, Vice chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee and Tra Vinh University Rector Board warmly welcomed senior leaders of two provinces of Prey Veng and Svay Rieng , Cambodia at Tra Vinh University.

The delegation was led by Mr. Hou Vatanak, Deputy Governor of Svay Rieng province and Mr. ChunSaphal, Director of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Prey Veng province. Accompanied in the delegation were leader representatives with the presence of Mr. Loek Virak, Vice Rector of Svay Rieng University together with other twenty three members to be principals and vice principals of high schools of Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces.

     

This working visit aims at seeking potentially collaborative opportunities in the fields of culture, education, and agriculture between Tra Vinh province and the provinces of Svay Rieng and Prey Veng.

 

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoang and Mr. Hou Vatanak discussed potentials for economic development especially in culture, agriculture, education and training in the future.

 

“We hope that this working visit will open up opportunity for cultural exchange between Tra Vinh province and its partners. Additionally, it will help promote cooperation and collaboration on educational and agricultural development toward offering learning opportunity for people of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng and Tra Vinh provinces”, said Mr. Hoang, Vice chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee.

 

With regard to education and training, leader representatives of Tra Vinh University and Svey Rieng University discussed potential opportunities for cooperation in the years to come including two-stage, graduate and postgraduate training programs on agriculture, engineering technology and economics. Two sides also agreed to enter into more detailed discussion and make promise about signing memorandum of understanding at the earliest time.

  

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector said: “We are very happy to welcome leaders of Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces and the delegation. Taking this opportunity, we hope to promote closer collaboration on education between Tra Vinh province and its partners.” 

   

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Loek Virak, Vice Rector of Svay Rieng University expressed his satisfaction with TVU multi-branch training model. He said: “Svay Rieng is a young university established in 2005 with specializations compatible with Tra Vinh University such as agriculture, economics, engineering and technology. In order for the development of human resource, we would like to establish long-term collaboration on training, technology transfer, to which Tra Vinh University is an important partner.”

On the afternoon of June 21, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam had an intimate talk with Tra Vinh University faculties and students at TVU main Campus.

Accompanied in the delegation are senior leader representatives with the presence of Mr. Nguyen Van Tung,Vice-Chairman of the Office of the Government, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice Secretary of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Kim Ngoc Thai, Vice-Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee.    

 

On the report of activities of the university, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated and highly evaluated the efforts and achievements that Tra Vinh University has attained.

 

 At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of Tra Vinh University made his suggestions to the leaders of the government and the relevant ministries and sectors on developing Tra Vinh University in the new stage based on major projects and infrastructure construction such as phase-II student dormitory, practice hospital, center of national defense and security education for students, and center of physical education.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister spent a great deal of time having an intimate talk with the university’s faculties and students. As part of this talk, he stressed the importance on responsibility of each faculty and student to the development of the university.

    

On this visit, the Deputy Prime Minister visited TVU dormitory and the laboratory of milky coconut tissue culture which is one of the remarkable researches of Tra Vinh University’s School of Agriculture and Aquaculture.

 On June 28, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University blew whistle officially inaugurating sports for social change program with the topic “Changing Lives and Encouraging Ability through Soccer”.

The summer camp took place from June 28 to July 3 at Tra Vinh University with the involvement of 144 campers in total ranging from grade 2 to grade 8.

 

This is the 5th year of the program taking place at Tra Vinh University and in Kandal province in Cambodia in coordination with Sarus organization.

 

 “We always maintain this annual activity at Tra Vinh University and Kandal province, Cambodia. This year, the program has notable features with the participation of nine TVU students, nine Cambodian students, one American student and four Sarus interns from Singapore, Bangladesh and Cambodia”, said Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy, Director of the sports for social change program.

 

Bui Tuan Khoa, a grade-3 pupil said cheerfully: “I have joined this program during two consecutive years. I feel very happy joining this program because I can both study and play through extracurricular activities. Especially, in this program, I can get opportunity to get in direct contact with foreign trainers.”

  

 “This camp program is very practical since it creates healthy playground for pupils and students to learn and experience new cultures, improve soccer, social and group-work skills. This is the third year I have had opportunity to work with students from three countries: Vietnam, America and Cambodia”, expressed Dong Dinh Giam, a TVU fourth-year student.

 

 The first part of the program closed at Tra Vinh University, followed by the second in Kandal province, Cambodia from July 4th to 16th 2017.

(TVU) - 15.6.2017 – Diane Michele Millar, U.S. Embassy Regional English Language Officer, visited Tra Vinh University today to see the success of the Access English Microscholarship Program implemented through the TVU School of Foreign Languages and funded by the U.S. Department of State through the U.S. Embassy.

Dr Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of TVU, acknowledged the significance of the Access Program to the local population, and expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their visit.

 

Afterwards Mr Khau Hoang Anh of the School briefed about the program’s implementations and its successful impact on the teenage students. He said the students learned about the English language, American culture, and participated in field trips which provided a foundation of English language skills to 13-16 year-olds from Tra Vinh’s economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

 

In her remarks, Ms Diane warmly thanked Tra Vinh University on behalf of the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City for the friendship and cooperation in this program implemented over the past one and a half years. She also talked about how the U.S. Consulate and TVU could work in the future and other opportunities for English language teachers to work with the U.S. government.

 

Ms Diane then visited the Access classroom and conducted a one hour teaching activity. She asked the students about their studies, and posed questions about US culture and history.

 

The U.S. government has funded the Access Program all over the world. TVU is honoured to be part of this program that enables participants developing English language skills.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed his gratitude to Dr. Tao-Jen Pan and the delegation for the visit and the MoU ceremony. “Some TVU lecturers graduated and some are pursuing their PhD program at Taiwan universities. This makes our co-operation more convenient”, said the Vice Rector.

 

Dr. Tao-Jen Pan emphasized: “Under the co-operative framework, we will hold cultural and scientific events between Taiwan universities and Tra Vinh University as well as provide soft skills on culture and language to Vietnamese students in order to help them to adapt new environment easily when studying in Taiwan, especially introduce job opportunities to graduated students”.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung said: “The seminar helps entrepreneurs, scientists and educators have great opportunity to discuss co-operative potentials for development of shipbuilding in Tra Vinh. It is also good chance for students to widen their knowledge about this field and enhance their awareness about job opportunity on shipbuilding in future.”

 

Takauchi company and Tra Vinh University are going to co-operate to develop curricular and train faculties on shipbuilding. By the way, the experts share how to approach advanced technology on shipbuilding in Japan.
