TVU – Tra Vinh University witnesses a spectacular evening as over 1,000 spectators gather for the grand finale of The Voice TVU 2024 singing competition on November 17. Thach Chane Da Ro from Coach Mai Ai’s team emerges victorious, outperforming 11 other finalists in a night filled with remarkable performances.
The prestigious event at Tra Vinh University draws notable attendees, including Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, and representatives from various educational institutions across the province. The competition, organized by Tra Vinh University’s Youth Union and Student Association, celebrates the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic year and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day.
Distinguished judges for the competition include Dr. Mai My Duyen, member of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association and Vietnam Theater Artists Association, serving as head judge. The panel also features prominent musicians and educators from the region, complemented by three talented coaches: Mai Ai from Tra Vinh University’s Faculty of Languages – Culture – Arts, Thien Chat from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, and Phuoc Nguyen from the Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanities School.
“This competition, which began in September 2024, has attracted nearly 200 participants,” says Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University. “Through highly competitive rounds, we selected the 12 most outstanding contestants for the finale. The event showcases Tra Vinh University students’ dynamic, creative, and passionate spirit.”
The evening results see Thach Chane Da Ro from TVU’s College of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanities (Mai Ai Team) claiming the championship with his powerful voice and energetic performance. Nguyen Hoang Gia Han from the Communications Club secures the first runner-up position, while Tran Dang Khoa from Nguyen Thien Thanh Specialized High School takes the second runner-up.
Three contestants receive the Quarter-finalist awards: Nguyen Huynh Minh Phat from the 5-Good Student Club, Vo Thi Be Thao from the Southern Khmer Arts School, and Ngo Thi Kim Ngan. The audience choice award goes to Nguyen Huynh Minh Phat, with six additional encouragement prizes awarded to other performers.
The event receives strong support from sponsors, including Oppo Tra Vinh, Viettel Tra Vinh, and several local music and education centres, demonstrating strong community engagement with Tra Vinh University’s cultural initiatives. The competition highlights the university’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent and strengthens its position as a cultural hub in the Mekong Delta region.
