In the recent labor market, aquaculture is developing with a huge demand for human resources. Therefore, the aquaculture sector is the right choice for students.
The sector associates with the actual environment
MS. Phan Thi Thanh Truc, Head of Aquaculture Department (Tra Vinh University), said: The aquaculture training program equips learners with professional knowledge and skills such as Breeding and producing artificial breeding seeds; management of water environmental factors serving for aquaculture; diagnosis, prevention and treatment of aquatic species; fishery extension.
Besides, in the learning process, students are guided in applied scientific research and technology transfer in an aquaculture form; technical advice on planning for sustainable aquaculture development; service provision, and technology transfer on aquaculture. Students give the full professional qualifications being necessary to meet the actual job requirements after graduation.
Training program associates with businesses
Aquaculture recently plays an influential role in the economy and generates great income sources with many job opportunities.
The aquaculture at Tra Vinh University is one of the six majors that have achieved international education quality accreditation, according to AUN-QA standards, and training in the model of business integration (Coop).
A series of matter-of-fact experiential learning exercises in enterprises starts from the end of the first year to the final year. The activities help students develop practical career skills to meet the high demands of enterprises.
Starting from the second year, students involve like an expert at seafood enterprises such as Minh Phu Seafood Corporation, Thong Thuan Co., LTD (Thong Thuan Seafood), C.P. Vietnam Corporation, Greenfeed Vietnam Corporation, UV Corporation, and etc.
In these corporations, companies, and enterprises, students have access to commercial farming techniques, hatchery techniques, raising parent breeds, diagnosing diseases on aquatic species. After that, students work in enterprises in different positions with the direction of experts, perform simple to complex tasks of an engineer and receive a corresponding salary according to labor productivity.
Previously participating in the Coop program, Huynh Minh Thien, a student of the Aquaculture course 2018, said: “During the process of joining Coop at businesses, I have access to the reality of the industry, understand the farming process, take care of aquatic species, know how to prevent and treat diseases. Especially, students directly work in enterprises to exploit, accumulate experience and improve their expertise.”
At Tra Vinh University, most graduate students have stable jobs. However, TVU has not yet provided enough aquatic human resources for businesses. The aquaculture industry is in “high demand” for quality human resources. Aquaculture is a potential field of study, bringing attractive career opportunities and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.
Working at VIBO Co., Ltd., Mr. Nguyen Chi Nguyen, an alumnus of aquaculture course 2016, said: During the study, students can set up a database and manage resources to develop local aquatic products, suitable aquaculture techniques to different ecological regions, and improve seed quality.
Moreover, students are also equipped with knowledge of research on the effects of the environment on aquatic diseases, testing pharmaceutical chemicals and vaccines on seafood, testing the origin and quality of seafood, etc. For those who love knowledge of chemistry and biology, Aquaculture is a fascinating subject.
Should we study aquaculture? Do you have your answer, right? With experience teaching in the agriculture, aquaculture fields, professional and enthusiastic teachers, and good facilities for practice, Tra Vinh University is the right choice for you.
