(TVU) – On October 11th, at Tra Vinh University, Tra Vinh Provincial Charity Fund awards scholarship for students overcoming difficulties in the 2023-2024 school year.
Attending the program, there were Mrs. Tang Thi Ngoc Mai, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tra Vinh Province, Mr. Lam Hoang Loc, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tra Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kha, Chairwoman of the Provincial Promotion of Education Association, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hieu, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Trà Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund, Mr. Tu Minh Dien, Chairman of the Tra Vinh Red Cross Society, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Trà Vinh University, representatives of high schools, and over 400 students from universities and high schools receiving the scholarships.
In her speech at the program, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kha, Chairwoman of the Tra Vinh Provincial Promotion of Education Association, acknowledges the contributions of the Tra Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund to the students in Tra Vinh Province. The fund have founded and maintained by the family of Mr. Lam Hoàng Loc, a native of Tra Vinh, has been partnering with the Promotion of Education Association and the Department of Education and Training for the past 10 academic years to support financially disadvantaged students of Tra Vinh province.
Up to now, the fund has awarded over 3,000 scholarships to students in need, including more than 500 scholarships for university students (each valued from 2 to 4 million Vietnamese Dong). Additionally, the fund has sponsored the construction of 100 houses (each valued at 50 million Vietnamese Dong), provided support to the Promotion of Education Association, and assisted orphaned children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These timely supports have played an important role in enhancing educational opportunities, improving living conditions for students, and helping them strive to become valuable individuals for their families, hometowns, and society.
Mr. Lam Hoang Loc, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tra Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund, stated that in the future, the Intellectual Charity Fund will continue to accompany the Association for Promoting Education and Tra Vinh University in supporting academically students from impoverished backgrounds in Tra Vinh. He hoped that that these scholarships will serve as a source of motivation and help the students overcome difficulties. He emphasized the importance of their efforts in their studies, as it will enable them to become good citizens who contribute to their families, society, and the development of a prosperous and beautiful Tra Vinh.
Nguyen Hoang An, a student from class 11A1 at Nguyen Thien Thanh Specialized High School for Gifted Students, spoke on behalf of over 500 students and shared their gratitude: “I am truly grateful to the Board of Trustees of the Tra Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund and the Promotion of Education Association for providing us with financial support for our educational expenses. This assistance has alleviated the burden on our families and allowed us to strive for academic success. I promise to study diligently and become a useful citizen who can support my family and contribute to the community and society.”
At the ceremony, the Tra Vinh Provincial Intellectual Charity Fund awards 100 scholarships worth 4 million Vietnamese Dong each to students from Tra Vinh University and 25 scholarships to students from Can Tho University. Additionally, 310 scholarships granted to students from 35 secondary schools and high schools throughout Tra Vinh Province, with each scholarship valued at 2 million Vietnamese Dong. The total amount for these scholarships was 1,120,000,000 Vietnamese Dong.
