(TVU) On March 15, the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, Dentistry under the School of Medicine and Pharmacy (Tra Vinh University) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Dental industry. The event attracted a large number of principle scientists, leaders of hospitals inside and outside the province, leaders of Tra Vinh University along with students, alumni, and lecturers.
The Faculty of Odonto – Stomatology – Dentistry under School of Medicine and Pharmacy (Tra Vinh University), which is formerly known as the section of Odonto-Stomatology, of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tra Vinh University, was established in 2014 with the mission of improving the oral health of the community depends on improving training quality, promoting scientific research and technology transfer. After more than 10 years of establishment and development, the Faculty has continuously strived to train generations of quality dentists to contribute to oral health care for the community and improve the quality of people’s lives.
Currently, the Odonto- Stomatology major has two training levels: Oral and Maxillofacial Doctor and Specialist I in Dentistry. Tra Vinh University’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Doctor fulfils enough to meet the educational quality accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. Up to now, there are over 230 students graduating and working at hospitals and private facilities in the field of Dentistry, etc.
Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Doan Hoai, Vice Principal of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, Dentistry, said that the undergraduate level of Odonto-Stomatology training lasts 6 years. Students are trained from general subjects, fundamentals of major to subjects in the Odonto-Stomatology major. Additionally, students learn clinical simulation, pre-clinical practice and practice directly on patients before graduating.
During 10 years of formation and development, the Odonto-Stomatology Faculty of Tra Vinh University has always received the attention of central and local leaders, counterparties, parents, and students who have trusted and chosen Tra Vinh University as a place of study, research and development as well as the companionship of professors, doctors, dentists, and sponsors and the community, etc.
In the upcoming time, the faculty will focus on improving training quality, increasing investment in facilities and equipment for teaching and scientific research, continuously updating biomedical science advances, and promoting serving the community as well as international cooperation to ensure training quality, aiming to build an increasingly strong and sustainable faculty.
On this occasion, Associate Prof, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Principal of Tra Vinh University, thanked the previous generations of teachers and staff for always guiding and creating conditions for the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology to develop. Simultaneous, the Principal hopes that in the coming time, the Odonto-Stomatology Faculty in particular and the School of Medicine and Pharmacy in general will continue to improve training quality, promote scientific research, and international integration, etc.
Prof., Dr. Ta Van Tram, Principal of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that the specific task of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy in the coming time will be to maintain and develop, expand the scale of training, complete scientific research, and towards international integration and development, proactively to coordinate with international training facilities, take efficiency as the goal, improve the mental material life of medical staff, build a healthy working environment.
In the series of activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Odonto-Stomatology, Dentistry industry, there are many contents such as conferences, scientific seminars on the dental field, display of products of businesses and the 10th anniversary of Odonto-Stomatology, Dentistry.
