Co-op students intern in logistics and e-commerce companies

(TVU) – On May 17, 2023, The Training Centre of Logistics and E-Commerce (CLEC) of Tra Vinh University (TVU) organized a Co-op internship program for students at the ports of Can Tho and Hau Giang and meetings with logistics businesses in Can Tho City.

The internship involve 10 students majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DA20QLDL) interning at the Can Tho Port Joint Stock Company (including Cai Cui Port and Hoang Dieu Port) and the Hau Giang Maritime service limited liability company.

Dr. Le Thi Thu Diem, Director of The Training Centre of Logistics and E-Commerce at Tra Vinh University, said that Co-op internships at businesses are a student program that trains them to work as official employees under the guidance of the staff in the company and CLEC lecturers. It provides students opportunities to learn and familiarize themselves with the real working environment and apply the knowledge learned in their curriculum related to import/export documents, cargo handling procedure, cargo insurance, supply chain insurance services for import-export goods, customs declarations, delivery receipt process, and a variety of other services based on the diverse needs of import-export businesses today.

Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Hau Giang Maritime service limited liability company highly appreciated the Co-op internship program in Logistics at Tra Vinh University and hoped that the students would be proactive in their work, have a serious attitude and grasp the specialized knowledge and skills utilizing in handling work situations.

 

 

Chau Ngoc Han, a student of the Logistics Service Management course, in the academic year 2020, who is interning at the Can Tho Port Joint Stock Company, shared: “During the internship, I always attempt to learn and enhance my knowledge and work skills as well as my communication skills in foreign languages. In addition, I received practical guidance from my mentor and colleagues in the company, from which I realized my shortcomings and changed to become more confident on my career path”.

 

In the afternoon, the CLEC delegation had a meeting and discussed further cooperation with the Director board of Mekong Agency- a maritime services company, in researching and teaching knowledge related to supply chain insurance services for import-export goods, customs declarations, delivery receipt processes in the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management and E-commerce majors at Tra Vinh University are trained following the Co-op model, with close cooperation between students, the university, and businesses. The training program allows students to work at businesses for one-third of the time as official employees, creating opportunities for students to practice professional skills while accumulating specialized knowledge which meets labor market needs.
