Expanding cooperation opportunities between Tra Vinh University and the departments of Savannakhet Province – Lao PDR

TVU – From June 20th to 21st, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, leads a delegation to visit and work with the departments and agencies of Savannakhet Province, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

The purpose of the visit is to explore and expand bilateral cooperation opportunities in the field of admissions and human resource training in the provinces of Central Laos.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet suggests various areas of collaboration

 

During the meeting with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet, Ms. Dang Thi Hai Tam, the Consul General, highly appreciates the visit and work of Tra Vinh University in Savannakhet Province. She states that Savannakhet Province is the second-largest province in Laos and is currently in a phase of rapid development. Many Vietnamese universities are seeking cooperation opportunities in various fields here.

According to her, this is a favorable opportunity for universities to expand cooperation in education, healthcare, research projects in agriculture, technology, and information technology.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet proposes to Tra Vinh University’s Board of Management to consider creating conditions and expanding scholarship policies for Laotian students who wish to study at Tra Vinh University. At the same time, they propose that Tra Vinh University provide support for training and capacity building of human resources for Savannakhet Province in the areas of education, training, healthcare, etc. In addition, Tra Vinh University can consult with the People’s Committee of Tra Vinh Province to sign a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation between the two provinces, strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos. The Consulate General is ready to support and provide the best conditions for Tra Vinh University to connect and cooperate with the departments and agencies in the provinces of Central Laos to promote development between the parties.

On the same day, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia and the delegation members meet with businesses in Savannakhet Province, discussing and exploring cooperative training opportunities using the co-op model.

During their visit, the working delegation of Tra Vinh University also works with the Department of Education and Sports, Department of Health, Department of Foreign Affairs, Provincial General Hospital, and the Medical College as well as Savanlogistics Dry Port in Savannakhet Province.

Here, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia introduces the training and research activities at Tra Vinh University and the admission policies for Laotian students. He also expresses the desire for more cooperation opportunities with the departments and agencies of Savannakhet Province.

At the working sessions, representatives of the departments also propose supporting the training of human resources for the province. The training content includes sending experts from Tra Vinh University to train personnel in the fields of education, healthcare, and the desire to visit Tra Vinh University to learn about the culture of Tra Vinh Province, with the aim of signing a memorandum of understanding and fostering sustainable development cooperation.

Regarding the discussion topics and proposals of the departments at the meeting, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia continues to advise the leaders of the ministry and relevant parties. He also proposes to the university leadership to promptly implement the discussed topics that Tra Vinh University can promote immediately. At the same time, he suggests developing suitable scholarship policies for Laotian students who want to study at Tra Vinh University.

According to Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, the visit and work in Savannakhet Province open up many cooperation opportunities and development potential in various areas of training and research between Tra Vinh University and the parties involved.

After concluding the visit to Savannakhet Province, the working delegation continues to work with the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Ministry of Health in Vientiane from June 22nd to 23rd, 2023.
