Dr. Thach Thi Dan, the Vice-Rector, states, \u201cBy participating in Vietnam Space Week 2023, Tra Vinh University provides students with opportunities to engage with NASA experts and astronomers and take part in various creative activities. Moreover, they get to learn about the inspiring stories of astronauts in their working and living environments in space, scientific research on protecting the Earth and preventing environmental pollution. This event contributes to guiding career paths and fostering a passion for scientific research among students.\u201d\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The program features presentations on the work and life of Mr. Michael A. Baker, a former NASA astronaut and US Navy space captain, and Dr. Josef Schmid, a NASA flight surgeon. It also introduces the medical and technical training programs for the aviation industry and astronauts in space. Furthermore, students actively participate in interactive games and have the opportunity to ask questions to NASA experts and astronomers regarding space exploration.<\/p>\n

Nguyen Nguyen Phuong Trang, a student in Social Work, course 2021, shares her impressions of participating in the program for the first time, saying, \u201cI found the stories shared by NASA experts intriguing. This event has provided me with more insights into the research activities, technological applications, and space science of the US Aviation and space agency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vietnam Space Week takes place from June 5 to June 9 in Hau Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Dinh. It marks the first event organized by NASA in a Southeast Asian country. In Hau Giang, the activities span two days, from June 5 to 6, offering various engaging activities such as experiencing NASA STEM Day, exploring the starry sky at Hoa Binh Square, Ward 5, Vi Thanh City, participating in STEM competitions and workshops based on age, providing gifts to disadvantaged students, and engaging in discussions, questions, and answers with astronauts, scientists, and astronomy experts involved in STEM activities. Attendees also have the opportunity to sign autographs and take pictures with the astronauts. The primary goal of Vietnam Space Week is to inspire the younger generation through stories of astronauts, their working and living conditions in space, as well as educate about scientific research to protect the Earth, prevent environmental pollution, raise awareness about the risks of planetary collisions, extraterrestrial life, and space aliens. The event aims to guide and promote careers for the younger generation and foster STEM educational activities, including NASA STEM Day for youth.<\/p>\n
