Innovative Start-up idea from amorphophallus konjac


From the desire of bringing products that benefit the community and society, contributing to enhancing the value of Amorphophallus konjac products, the student group of Tra Vinh University has researched and launched a product of Amorphophallus konjac powder for health – KLEN FARM.

The project was implemented by a group of authors including Son Thai Ngoan (student of Criminal Law 2017), Nguyen Thanh Tra (student of Pharmacy A in 2017), Ha Thi Diem Khuyen (student of Food Technology 2018), and Nguyen Thi Ngoc My (student of English Language C in 2018). 

Sharing on the way to process the Amorphophallus konjac powder product which makes a difference from other products of the same characteristics on the market, Son Thai Ngoan, the leader of the project research team boldly, shared: “Amorphophallus konjac powder for health – KLEN FARM is a product produced from pure Amorphophallus konjac, cultivated according to organic agriculture. The product applies new technology in products such as: crushing, drying, extracting, separating.”

To create a unique product, many different types of Amorphophallus konjac products have been created such as Amorphophallus konjac powder with honey turmeric essence powder, Amorphophallus konjac powder with butterfly pea flower, Amorphophallus konjac powder with jasmine scent, etc.

Also, the product has no preservatives and is 100% natural, ensuring the sources of production, food hygiene, and safety, as well as other standards. 

In the upcoming time, the research group will continue to innovate the products in many different models, combine Amorphophallus konjac farm with experience tourism and cuisine, research and produce canned drinks from Amorphophallus konjac powder. At the same time, the project will build a brand associated with its locality. 

Assessing the creativity of this Start-up idea, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu An, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Director of the Youth Start-up Support Center, said: “The product is safe for the health of consumers, promising to improve the value of Amorphophallus konjac products, develop the economy and create more job opportunities for local people.”

It is known that this is one of the two student projects in the field of technology and product manufacturing to be in the top 50 final round of the “Students and start-up ideas” competition in 2020 (SV.STARTUP – 2020), organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
