TVU – On the morning of October 3rd, 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of Tra Vinh University, and the leaders of the school units visited the students who had move to the dormitory in Campus 4 of Tra Vinh University. At the meeting, the school administrators sent their best regards on students’ health status, living and learning conditions, and the school gifts to encourage the students of Tra Vinh University. On this occasion of Sen Dolta Festival, Rector Pham Tiet Khanh also sent congratulatory gifts to the Cambodian students studying at Tra Vinh University.

Previously, on October 2nd, 2021, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Tra Vinh province issued a document on requisitioning the dormitory in Campus 1 of Tra Vinh University as the concentrated isolation area No.4. The Dormitory Management Board coordinated with the teachers, staff, and students to make great efforts cleaning and arranging the rooms in order to urgent and timely handover to the province to welcome those who go back from Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the pandemic prevention and control of Tra Vinh Province.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Head of the School Dormitory Management Board, said: “Since October 2nd, 2021, the dormitory in Campus 1 of Tra Vinh University, with a capacity of 3,500 beds, has been temporarily requisitioned into the concentrated isolation area No. 4. Therefore, 138 students, including 35 Cambodian students staying in the university dormitory, will be temporarily transferred to the dormitory in Campus 4. The dormitory currently has 99 rooms with a capacity of nearly 700 beds. The belongings and items that students left in their rooms in Campus 1 were all packed in boxes, sealed, carefully marked and put in separate rooms for best preservation to hand over to students when they return to school”.

“During the implementation of transferring room for students, we have encountered many difficulties, including the limitation of staff and time while the workload was overwhelming. Moreover, moving to new accommodation at the present condition caused students and their parents much worry. That made us more stressed to know that we all have responsibilities to organize and supervise carefully and strictly to protect students as well as students’ assets. The university also created the best and safest conditions for students to live and study with peace of mind in their new places.” Mr. Ngoc Tu added.

Nguyen Thi Hong Nhi, a student of Odonto-Stomatology in the course of 2019, said that: “In the early afternoon, my friends and I were in our room when the Dormitory Management Board announced that we might have to temporarily relocate to the dormitory in Campus 4 due to the requisition of the dormitory in Campus 1 to be the concentrated isolation area of the province. When we were preparing our dinner, the second announcement that we had to pack our things right away to move to a new place was made. At first, we were all very worried about this urgent relocation. My roommates in the countryside called up every second to ask about their belongings. We did not know what to do. But then, the university’s teachers and volunteer students came and helped us to pack our things up and took us to the dormitory at Campus 4. Our new room in Campus 4 is not as spacious and comfortable as the old one in Campus 1, but the space is still green, clean, quiet, and safe. Now I feel better, and I am not worried anymore. I hope the Covid-19 pandemic will soon be prevented so that people can live their normal lives. We can also return to our old room in Campus 1 and our school to study with our teachers and friends.”

Le Minh Giau, a student of Tourism and Travel Service Management in course 2019, said: “Although I do not stay in the dormitory, I have spent my whole morning with the volunteers to help packing things up for the students. I tried my best to be careful, considering that I was packing my things. I understand that the students are all worried, but we have no choice for this urgent situation. Suppose we are not in a hurry to have rooms available in 2-3 days. In that case, many people, including babies, pregnant women, and old people, will be hungry, standing and waiting under the cold and hot conditions to have a place to be isolated. I believe that the students will understand the situation and are willing to cooperate with the university to move as soon as possible.”

Lovely messages from students

Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, affirmed: “Despite many difficulties in performing the urgent tasks assigned in a short time, with the spirit of helping and sharing with needy people who go back from Ho Chi Minh city so that they can have accommodation to be isolated, contributing to the Covid-19 prevention and control, teachers and students of Tra Vinh University have tried their best to promptly hand over the school dormitory as the request of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Tra Vinh province.

Most of the students staying at the dormitory understand the urgent situation of the university as well as the province. They sympathize and are willing to move to their new accommodation in a hurry.

Those staying near the university also join hands to help their friends in the dormitory, showing the spirit of supporting the Covid-19 prevention and control activities of the province.

Understanding students’ concerns and worries about their belongings in the old room and the difficulties in their new accommodation, the teachers and staff of Tra Vinh University try their best to actively support their students with the best facilities, preventing the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the university is reviewing and completing the internet system at the dormitory in Campus 4 in 1-2 days, at the same time setting up a hotline to receive and solve problems and questions of students via the Hotline number of the Dormitory Management Board at 0828998725. The school committed to accompanying students and parents.

The leader board of Tra Vinh University expressed their sincere thanks to all volunteer students, teachers, and functional staff who joined hands helping students pack their belongs, clean up the room and take students to their new places. This is a timely valuable support to prepare the isolation area for the people going back from Ho Chi Minh City.”
