(TVU) – From December 11th to 17th, 2023, lecturers of the Faculty of Samar State University (SSU), Philippines train on applying for patent and intellectual property ownership for staff of Tra Vinh University.The trainers from SSU included Dr. Vivian Moya, the Head of Technology Development and Transfer and Intellectual Property Office, Engineer Nikko Ardel Floretes, and Engineer Jan Floro Bautista.
The training focuses on patent-related information searching tools, outlining the preparation of patent application proposals, and evaluating content related to intellectual property ownership.
The goal training program aims to help the staff and school of Tra Vinh University with fundamental knowledge about patents, how to search for information, draft documents and describe patents, draft applications for patent recognition and announce inventions and patent applications; how to write detailed patent descriptions, and prepare technical drawings for patent applications; check and evaluate the examination of intellectual property collection and readiness for industrial application/ production, etc.
Speaking at the welcome meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University said that over the past five years, scientific research topics in the university have increased significantly, but patent registration is very limited. Through the training program and support of experts from SSU, the university’s leaders hope that lecturers and staff will gain more experience and understand the patent application process and procedures.
In the coming time, The Vice Rector also expressed that there will be many products and scientific research topics of lecturers and staff in particular, as well as participation in patent registration, recognition, and granting of patents of Tra Vinh University in general.
