Musical Performance to welcome Chol Chnam Thmay- Khmer New Year

On April 4th, 2012, at the hall of Faculty of Agriculture and Aquaculture , TVU held the musical show to welcome Khmer New Year in 2012. The program was honored to welcome the monks from the Kom Pong Nekrot ( Hang Pagoda) and the Kom pong Ksan ( Moi Pagoda) along with the representatives of the religion Office of  Home Affairs Department, Tra Vinh Propaganda Group. At TVU side were Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh- Rector of TVU, Ms. Thach Thi Dan- Vice Rector of TVU, TVU Youth Union, Student Union members and TVU lecturers and students.

In her opening speech, Ms. Thach Thi Dan – Vice Rector of TVU emphasized that TVU always focuses on the priority for Khmer students studying at TVU with appropriate support policies. In addition, she also confirmed that TVU has much attention to preserving and promoting the cultural value of Khmer people living in Southern Vietnam by giving courses specializing in Southern Khmer Culture, Khmer language and giving graduate courses of these majors.

After the speech of Ms. Thach Thi Dan, various exciting tradditional musical items were performed by TVU Khmer students such as theRo-bam, the Rom-vong, the Saravan dances, folk songs and especially the setting of the New Year tale. The show gave TVU students a good environment to learn, to promote their abilty and to enhance the solidarity. Morever, it contributed to the conservation and promotion the cultural value of Southern Khmer people as well as it showed the diversified culture of Vietnam.
