In the morning of September 9th 2012, Tra Vinh University formally organized the Opening Ceremony for the first Master Program on Southern Khmer Culture.
Participating the ceremony, there were Ms. Nguyen Thi Kha, Standing Commissioner of Committee of National Assembly Social Issues; Mr. Thach Mo-ni, Deputy- Director of Ethnic and Religious Department, Southwest Steering Committee; Dr. Vu Thanh Binh, expert of Postgraduate Department, Ministry of Education and Training; Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice president of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Tran Binh Trong, Standing Commissioner- Chief of Propaganda Committee of Tra Vinh Provincial Communist Party Committee; Rector Board of Tra Vinh University and representatives of Departments in districts and the province and 34 new learners.
Tra Vinh University was approved to open and implement the Postgraduate program of Cultures of Vietnam Ethnic Minorities, specialized in Southern Khmer Culture by Ministry of Education and Training in order to meet social and economic development tasks, train qualified human resource for Tra Vinh province in particular and Mekong Delta region in general. This is the first Master course of Southern Khmer Culture in Tra Vinh University approved by Ministry of Education and Training. In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of Tra Vinh University congratulated 34 new students and was in the hope of their successful studies to become qualified resource to meet tasks of the project of Ethnic Minorities Cultures Preservation and Development by 2020 approved by Prime Minister.
Participating and giving directional speech at the ceremony, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice president of Tra Vinh Provincia l People’s Committee congratulated those students and stated her belief to Rector Board, staff and lecturers of Tra Vinh University and the students’ learning efforts. The course will provide Tra Vinh province and provinces in Mekong Delta qualified staff to meet requirements and tasks of Khmer Ethnic Cultures preserving and developing to contribute to Specific Vietnam Culture Establishment.
