Opportunities for studying at Tra Vinh University and working at THACO AGRI, Cambodia

TVU – From September 18th to September 20th, 2023, the Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, and a working delegation are in Cambodia, specifically in the Snoul and Koun Mom regions of THACO AGRI, a subsidiary of Truong Hai Agricultural Joint Stock Company. They are there to implement cooperation in education and training under the Co.op program, career counseling, and human resource development.

Joining the delegation are Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Nguyen, Rector of the Faculty of Economics and Law; Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung, Head of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Huynh My Phuong, Head of the Pre-University School; Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Deputy Head of the School of Agriculture and Aquaculture, along with members of the International Admissions Committee.

The delegation is welcomed by Mr. Do The Trinh, Director of Human Resources, and Mr. Phan Tiem, Rector of THACO College, along with representatives from various departments in the Snoul and Koun Mom regions of Cambodia.

Mr. Do The Trinh, Director of Human Resources, warmly welcomes the delegation’s visit and their collaboration in the Snoul and Koun Mom regions in Cambodia. THACO AGRI strives to strengthen the connection between the university and the enterprise by offering opportunities for students to intern and participate in the training process. Currently, many Tra Vinh University alumni hold important positions within the integrated zones.

During the meeting, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, expresses gratitude to THACO AGRI for providing equipment to the university and for their ongoing support in education, internship opportunities, and guidance for students. The university plans to continue closely collaborating with THACO AGRI to facilitate internships for students in Cambodian integrated zones and to implement various agreements between the two institutions.

Mr. Phan Tiem, Rector of THACO College, hopes that this visit will allow the university to better understand the scale and development direction of THACO AGRI in Cambodia and identify potential areas for cooperation. This lays the foundation for both sides to expand collaboration in various fields, including agriculture and aquaculture, engineering and technology, economics, language, and culture, leveraging their respective strengths.

During this trip, the delegation visits Snoul and Koun Mom Integrated Zones in Cambodia, which are part of Trường Hải Agricultural Joint Stock Company (THACO AGRI). They tour these zones, including cattle farms, fish farms, banana plantations, mango orchards, lychee farms, and the Daunpenh Industrial Cluster, to gain insights into the working environment. They also meet with students and alumni from Tra Vinh University currently interning or working in these zones, and discuss the implementation of the Co.op program.

Thach Tao, a fourth-year student majoring in Khmer Language, interning at Koun Mom Integrated Zone, mentions that they have received excellent guidance and adapted well to the job requirements with the enthusiastic support of their colleagues. THACO AGRI provides a comfortable living environment and a great working atmosphere at the Koun Mom Integrated Zone. If given the opportunity, they would like to become official employees of THACO AGRI.

In the future, Tra Vinh University and THACO AGRI will further enhance their efforts in career counseling, training, internships under the Co.op program, and recruitment. Specifically, THACO AGRI will carry out career counseling and admissions activities in nearby regions of the integrated zones. Sponsored candidates will receive financial support for training at Tra Vinh University under the Co.op program, participate in paid internships at THACO AGRI, and receive commitments for suitable job positions within THACO AGRI’s integrated zones in Cambodia.

Snoul Integrated Agricultural Zone, under THACO AGRI, is located in Kratie Province and covers a total area of 10,715 hectares. It engages in integrated and organic agriculture, including banana and rubber cultivation, cattle farming, and fish farming.

Koun Mom Integrated Agricultural Zone, also under THACO AGRI, is located in Ratanakiri Province, covering a total area of 33,055 hectares. It operates integrated and organic agriculture, including banana and rubber cultivation, cattle farming, and fish farming.

This visit strengthens the educational partnership between Tra Vinh University and THACO AGRI, Cambodia.
