(TVU) On July 20, the School of Economics and Law – Tra Vinh University held a conference to review the first 6 months and discuss the direction for the last 6 months of 2023 with the topic “Evaluating and acquiring towards sustainable development.”
At the conference, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council, and Dr. Huynh Van Muoi Mot, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tra Vinh University.
On the side of the School of Economics and Law, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Nguyen – Rector, representatives of the leaders of departments and faculties, lecturers, and employees of the School of Economics and Law.
Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nguyen said: “The School of Economics and Law has been in operation for the past 6 months, aiming to develop educational activities and initially obtained encouraging results. Over the past time, the School has strived to meet the needs of learners and employees towards sustainable development.” The School was operated and inherited from the Faculty of Economics and Law, the Faculty of Office Administration, and the Faculty of State Management. From the available advantages, the programs were accredited according to international standards, enabling students to develop personally, creatively, and dynamically. Besides the advantages, the School also faced several difficulties, in which the expansion of highly qualified human resources according to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training was of top concern. He emphasized that today’s conference was an opportunity for the School of Economics and Law to recognize and evaluate the activities in the first 6 months and orient the work in the last 6 months of the year to move towards the goal of sustainable development.
In the first 6 months of 2023, the School of Economics and Law achieved specific results in teaching and learning, scientific research, community service, mass activities, enrollment, etc.
Specifically, the number of students studying at the School since 2019 has reached 6196, of which there are 1234 students in the regular program, 148 students in the work-study program at the School, and 4814 students in the work-study program at the locality. The number of registered scientific research topics among lecturers and students was recorded with 9 research topics and 8 accepted projects. Regarding enrollment, the School organized a series of seminars, “Who are you in the future?” at high schools to integrate with the work of attracting and enrolling students.
The School is constantly improving its training programs in line with society’s trends, researching market needs and building majors to meet human resource needs. Besides, the School is waiting for the acceptance of new majors such as Law for master’s degrees, Hospital Administration for master’s degrees and university degrees, Agribusiness for university degrees, and Economic Management for a master’s degree, meeting the needs of learners and human resources for the labor market. These positive signals motivate the School of Economics and Law to continue operating and training human resources, positively contributing to the development of the province, the region, and the country.
At the conference, many suggestions and solutions for training organization, enrollment, scientific research activities, and community service were proposed and discussed by lecturers, officials, and delegates. Leaders of the School of Economics and Law took in opinions to improve the management and training activities of the School. Improving foreign language proficiency towards international integration for officials and lecturers and jobs for students after graduation were focused and received attention in the discussion.
At the Conference, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council, said: ” Implementing a new model of the law of higher education, The School of Economics and Law is in the process of operating and gradually developing its training models”. From the suggestions, he hoped the School would listen, learn from experience and make recommendations to continue promoting the School of Economics and Law to develop.
At the end of the Conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the teachers and students of the School of Economics and Law in the first 6 months of 2023. The Vice Rector suggested that the School of Economics and Law continue to improve the quality of training according to international standards, develop and expand the ecosystem of training, scientific research, and service activities, serving the community to contribute to the development of Tra Vinh University and at the same time, taking in opinions and suggestions for the tasks of the School so that the training work of the School could be implemented and improved. For the recommendation and discussion at the conference, such as financial reports, personnel recruitment, and quality assurance, he asked the School of Economics, Law to record, complete the final reports and send them to the Board of Directors for review and evaluation.
