Students of Tra Vinh University participate in the 1st program of “Connecting and developing students of nationwide Odonto-Stomatology – Smile CoDe” in 2021

The program of “Connecting and developing students of nationwide Odonto-Stomatology – Smile CoDe”, was jointly implemented by the Institute of Odonto-Stomatology under Hanoi Medical University and the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology under Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. This program is a part of “The 11th International Science and Training Conference on Odonto-Stomatology in 2021″, taking place from November 19 to November 26, 2021, via online form.

The program aims to create opportunities for mutual learning among students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology. Importantly, it is expected to promote solidarity among students as well as institutions responsible for training oral maxillofacial doctors throughout the country.

Thereby, the online contest of “Dentory” taking place from October 19, 2021, to November 22, 2021, was the first activity to activate the program series of “Smile CoDe”. In this activity, students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology of Tra Vinh University introduced their major through images and clips about their lively learning process with modern facilities which effectively serve for students’ learning and practicing at school.

The online program of “Smile CoDe” was held on November 24, 2021, with exchanging activities such as Dental Connection or game Show like Denthoot. On this occasion, there was an announcement as well as the award of the online contest named “Dentory”.

During the program, students of Tra Vinh University enthusiastically shared the unique features of the studying environment as well as the programs at Tra Vinh University. This was also an opportunity for students to exchange and learn the culture as well as the teaching and learning methods of universities in general and the Odonto-Stomatology faculty in particular.

The competition of scientific reports on Odonto-Stomatology for students entitled “Sci–Dent Competition” was held on November 25, 2021. This was the third activity in the series of three main events of the program named “Connecting and development students of nationwide Odonto-Stomatology”. This activity created a useful playground for students of Odonto-Stomatology to share their scientific research projects as well as to learn and improve their knowledge of Odonto-Stomatology.

At the contest, there was the participation of 13 reporters as students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology with 8 topics in English and 5 ones in Vietnamese, and 10 judges as teachers from institutions responsible for Odonto-Stomatology training across the country. Odonto-Stomatology students of Tra Vinh University reported the topic of “The tooth decay of pupils at 17 primary schools in Tra Vinh city in 2021”, which was paid great attention by many members.

Bui Huu Khoi, a student majoring in Odonto-Stomatology of Tra Vinh University shared that “Smile CoDe is a very meaningful program that allows us to share and learn necessary skills for a future oral maxillofacial doctor. In addition, the program helps us keep good memories about the time of studying and working with teachers and other students at Tra Vinh University. We hope that our products in this competition will be able to activate the passion for learning and researching in this field of new students”. 

“The Smile CoDe program with a series of various activities nationwide aims to create great opportunities for students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology to study, exchange and connect. This is a good chance for Tra Vinh University’s Odonto-Stomatology students to exchange and learn from other schools’ students, which significantly improves their professional knowledge and skills through specialized scientific reports in the “Sci–Dent Competition.”, Dr. Pham Tuan Huy, Deputy Head of the Department of Public Dentistry under the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology at Tra Vinh University, one of the judges of the competition of scientific reports on Odonto-Stomatology for students entitled “Sci–Dent Competition” said.
