The Anniversary of Five-year Tra Vinh University Formation and Ten-year Application of Community College Model

In the morning of June 19th, 2011, at Campus I, Tra Vinh University (TVU) solemnly celebrated a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of five-year TVU formation  school (June 19th, 2006 – June 19th, 2011) and ten-year implement of Community College model (2001 – 2011).

Attending the ceremony, there were provincial authority such as Mr. Tran Tri Dung – Member of Central Party, Secretary of Tra Vinh Party Committee, Mr. Tran Hoan Kim – Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee,  Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong – Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee, Mr. Tong Minh Vien – Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee, and the leaders of provincial services, departments, and boards. The leaders of Tra Vinh city and that of districts in the province also participated in the ceremony. Honorably, Mr. Do Quoc Anh – Vice – Minister, Director of the Ministry of Education and Training Office in HCM city, Dr. Phan Manh Tien – Deputy Director of University Education, the leaders of Vietnam Association of Community Colleges, the delegations of different colleges and universities leaded by their rectors such as Hai Phong, Ha Tay, Dong Thap, … together with international guests such as Ms. Mme Deborah Chatsis – Ambassador of Canada in Vietnam, Mr. Abhay Thakur – Indian General Consulator in HCM city, Mr. R. Gururaj – Indian Consulator in Hanoi, Dr. Laura C. Halfyard – an expert of Canada Marine Institute, foreign volunteers currently teaching and working at TVU, and representatives of companies and enterprises inside and outside the province attended that special event. All TVU staff members and more than five hundreds of students also joined the ceremony.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh – Rector of TVU gave a welcome speech to the guests and outlined the accomplishments as well as the development of the school over ten years of successful application of model Community College and five years of development TVU.

Within ten years of successful application of Community College model and five years of growth and development, TVU has successfully completed the training mission of quality human resources through giving short term and long term training, significantly supported to the standardization of the provincial staff, training and skill improvements for companies and enterprises, supplied thousands of skilled workers meeting employment needs of labor markets inside and outside the province, and  contributed to poverty alleviation in the province and the country.

On this occasion, the school expressed profound gratitude to individuals including leaders, experts, and TVU staffs who gave the dedication, contributions and valuable supports during its construction and development by awarding golden medals and flowers to those by Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU. Totally, more than three hundreds of medals were delivered.

Beside, aiming at recognition of the merits and contributions of individuals and groups throughout the 10 years of TVU development,Mr. Tran Hoan Kim – Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee awarded four members and three units at TVU who have successfully completed the mission of educational development for the province.

   At the ceremony, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai – Vice Rector of TVU declared the Decision No. 639/QD-TTg dated on April 28th, 2011 by the Prime Minister on merging Tra Vinh Teachers Training College into TVU. In addition, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong – Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee has recognized the achievements of the school in the last 10 years and orientated the growth of the school following years.

On behalf of the Rector Board, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Vice- Rector received the guidance from representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, the orientation of the provincial leaders and promised to specify those in the operation of the school in order to achieve the goals and the development strategies of the school. He also gave an ending speech at the ceremony.
