TVU – The College of Medicine and Pharmacy at Tra Vinh University is committed to implementing a comprehensive educational approach, fostering creative thinking, and combining teaching with practice-based learning. In this comprehensive educational system, learning is viewed as a continuous, lifelong journey that develops the ability to adapt to the world’s constant changes. Students learn through experiences, participating in practical activities, experiments, professional internships at healthcare facilities, research projects, and community service activities.
After 12 years of development, the College of Medicine and Pharmacy was officially established on February 1, 2024, merging the School of Medicine-Pharmacy and the School of Odonto and Stomatology. It currently comprises six departments with a total of 36 subject divisions, along with two additional subject units. The university hospital has been developed to achieve grade II status.
Currently, the College of Medicine and Pharmacy offers training in health sciences, including nine undergraduate programs, two master’s programs, nine first-level specialist programs, and one second-level specialist program.
With the vision of becoming one of the leading medical colleges in the Mekong Delta region, the College of Medicine and Pharmacy at Tra Vinh University defines its mission as training excellent doctors with strong medical ethics and dedication to community health. The leadership, faculty, staff, and medical students continue to pursue comprehensive education, striving to become a center for training in healthcare research and providing medical human resources for the region, the country, and international education integration.
In 2024, the College is admitting students to various programs, including Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Technology (all internationally accredited by AUN-QA), Odonto and Stomatology (accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training standards), General Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Rehabilitation Technology, and Medical Imaging Technology.
The College applies multiple admission methods, including considering national high school exam results, academic records, and Ho Chi Minh City National University’s competency assessment test results. The high school academic record method is not applied to General Medicine, Pharmacy, Odonto, and Stomatology programs.
The College invests in modern facilities and equipment to train high-quality healthcare human resources, including standardized medical practice rooms, a learning resource center, comfortable student dormitories, and a green, environmentally friendly campus. The university, provincial, and hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City serve students well for practical training and research.
The College’s training programs are carefully and scientifically designed to ensure in-depth knowledge and practical skills for learners. Students participate in seminars, medical forums, and internships at major hospitals to master practical skills.
Students are encouraged to join various clubs outside of class hours, including the Volunteer Youth Club, Medical Club, Sport and Art Club, Pharmacy Academic Club, Start-up Club, and Blood Donation Club. These activities contribute to creating a rich learning and training environment. The college particularly emphasizes community activities, with students regularly participating in voluntary blood donations and free medical examinations for local people.
The teaching staff at the College of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tra Vinh University, is carefully selected. They mainly comprise experienced doctors and PhDs in the medical field who are professionally competent and passionate about their profession.
The College continues to strengthen its participation in quality accreditation of training programs according to national and international standards. It also continues to promote accreditation for the remaining programs.
Most graduates from the College are working as doctors in major hospitals, medical consultants in public and private healthcare facilities, medical researchers, and medical lecturers at universities, and some are pursuing higher education programs or preparing to open their own clinics and healthcare consulting services.
