The Khmer Arts Group from Tra Vinh University performed Southern Khmer Arts in Chhattisgarh, India

TVU – From February 16th to 18th, 2023, the Khmer Arts Group from Tra Vinh University performed at the Ramayan Mandli competition in the city of Rajim, Chhattisgarh, India.

  

The Khmer Arts Group consisted of 12 members, including lecturers, students, and artists from Tra Vinh Province. The group presented 9 performances of Southern Khmer Arts over 3 nights (February 16-18, 2023). The Magh Punni Mela cultural stage in Chhattisgarh, India warmly welcomed the performance of the artists from Tra Vinh University. The performances were skillfully staged, rich in national identity. The group performed many chapters from the Ramayana epic and were loved by audiences from all over India. The traditional costumes and performances of the characters such as Ram and Sita by the Vietnamese artists were highly praised and attracted a large number of Indian audiences to enjoy and appreciate.

After 3 nights of performances, the group was presented with a souvenir including a symbol, a Ramayana book in Hindi, and a certificate from the Governor of Chhattisgarh, India, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel.

During this occasion, the group had the opportunity to exchange and learn from various Indian artists about different styles of performing this epic. The organizers arranged a visit to the Chhattisgarh State Tribal Museum for practical experience and to learn more about the cultural, religious, culinary life in India.
