On July 1st, 2011 at Tra Vinh Unversity (TVU), Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong, Vice Chairwoman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee along with leaders of departments and boards in Tra Vinh Province and Rector Board of TVU solemnly greeted Mr. Audri Mukhopadhyay – Canadian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the delegation of Canadian Business Association in Vietnam
At the meeting, both sides have gone over issues relating to the fields supported and collaborated between Tra Vinh and Canada government for years. Also development milestones of collaboration through projects funded and sponsored in Tra Vinh by Canada government were mentioned. Opportunities for cooperation near future, furthermore, were discussed.
After the meeting, the delegation and the leaders attended a celebration of National Day of Canada (July 1st) held by TVU in cooperation with Tra Vinh Friendship Association of Vietnam and Canada. Honorably, there were special guests in the ceremony such as Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, former Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee, Chairman of TVU Advisory Council; TVU Rector Board; Canadian student volunteers; and TVU teachers and students.
The celebration of Canada Day was the annual activities at TVU. The theme of the present Canada Day was “A journey over Canada”. It introduced an overview of the country and people as well as the events of history, the cultural values in Canada.
On behalf of Tra Vinh provincial leaders, Ms. Son Thi Anh Hong sent congratulations to the Canadian Consulate General and Canada government on the occasion of 149th National Day of Canada. She also noticed the contributions of Canada to education development in Tra Vinh province in particular and Vietnam in general. Finally, she hoped the relations between the two sides will grow further, tighter, and more durable.
