Tra Vinh ranks 3rd in Top 15 cities with cleanest air quality in Southeast Asia

TVU – According to an announcement by the global air quality monitoring agency IQAir (Switzerland), Tra Vinh ranks 3rd in the Top 15 cities with the cleanest air quality in Southeast Asia and has the cleanest air in Vietnam.

The study specifically examined levels of fine particulate matter PM2.5, the smallest but also most dangerous air pollutant. Only 9% of over 7,800 cities analyzed for air quality globally meet WHO standards, with annual average PM2.5 levels not exceeding 5 μg/m³ (micrograms per cubic meter).

Vietnam ranks 22nd out of 134 countries, regions, and territories, with the city of Tra Vinh being evaluated by IQAir as the cleanest place (ranked 6,806th) in Vietnam in 2023.

It is known that Tra Vinh is rated as the leading province in the country in terms of environmental governance quality and green growth orientation in the 2022 Green Index (PGI) ranking. The PGI is a set of indicators evaluating and ranking environmentally friendly localities, from a practical perspective on the degree of application of environmentally friendly technologies by local businesses.

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced the 2022 Provincial Competitiveness Index PGI. Tra Vinh province scored 17.67 points and was rated as the leading province in the country in terms of environmental governance quality and orientation towards green growth.
