Tra Vinh University buzzes with ‘Drug-Free School’ competition

Tra Vinh University successfully organized a “Drug-Free School” competition in June 2025, attracting 55 contestants from 11 teams across various university units. The event aimed to raise awareness about drug prevention among students and promote a healthy campus environment.

Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, attends and delivers the opening speech.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Thach Thi Dan emphasizes that drug addiction increasingly affects younger people, as criminals exploit students’ lack of knowledge and naivety to infiltrate educational environments, causing serious consequences. Therefore, students need to raise awareness, learn to say no to drugs, and actively protect themselves from temptation and manipulation. She urges students to stay away from drugs because a bright future awaits them.

The competition features three parts: the self-introduction section “Who am I” where teams introduce their members, slogans and anti-drug activities through dynamic performances including dancing, singing, short plays, and poetry. The knowledge test section operates as a gameshow with 25 multiple-choice questions online via phones and tablets, where teams demonstrate their legal knowledge and drug prevention skills. The talent section requires teams to create short videos under 5 minutes with commentary, proposing solutions for drug prevention at schools or residential areas.

The organizing committee awards one first prize, one second prize, two third prizes and nine encouragement prizes to outstanding teams in the competition.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Deputy Team Leader of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Tra Vinh Provincial Police, represents the judging panel and highly appreciates the program’s significance. He confirms this competition serves as a practical activity that helps improve understanding and drug prevention skills among the student community while powerfully conveying the message “Say No to Drugs” to friends and relatives.

The “Drug-Free School” competition serves as both an academic playground and a practical forum for Tra Vinh University students to spread the message of healthy living, raise awareness about self-protection and community protection against drug dangers, aiming toward a safe and clean educational environment.
