(TVU) – Joining the joy of generations of teachers and students across the country, on November 20, 2022, Tra Vinh University held the Opening Ceremony of the school year 2022-2023 and celebrated the 40th Vietnamese Teacher’s Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2022).
At the ceremony, there was the attendance of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan – Former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and Member of the 15th National Assembly (Ho Chi Minh City unit); Mr. Bui Quang Huy – Former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Binh – Standing member of Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Tho – Standing member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Tra Vinh Province; Mr. Nguyen Van Triet – Standing Member of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh province and leaders of departments, branches, agencies, units and enterprises in the province.
On the side of Tra Vinh University, there was Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh – Chairman of the School Council; Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa – University’s Rector; Dr. Thach Thi Dan – Vice-Rector; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Diep Thanh Tung – Vice-Rector; Mr. Tran Hoan Kim – Former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tra Vinh Province, Chairman of the Advisory Council of Tra Vinh University, former leaders of the university through generations, and all teachers, officials, employees, and excellent students those who are the representatives of all students of different courses at the university.

Prof.Dr. Diep Thanh Tung – Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, read the New School Year greeting letter from the State President and the congratulatory letter on Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20 from the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee, the Provincial People’s Council and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Tra Vinh province on the occasion of the Opening Ceremony and the 40th Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day at Tra Vinh University.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Rector of Tra Vinh University, said: “One year ago, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the opening ceremony of the school year of Tra Vinh University was held online. Especially during the first semester, the whole school had to teach and learn online. All teachers and students have made great efforts to overcome difficulties to complete the school year plan. It was in such a difficult context that new initiatives and ideas from the teachers and students have developed into achievements, contributing to helping Tra Vinh University overcome the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, complete the school goals and reach excellent achievements in digital transformation, international education quality accreditation, startup activities, and business cooperation.”
In the academic year 2021-2022, Tra Vinh University has made outstanding efforts when the university has, in turn, obtained 13 training programs that were assessed to meet international educational quality standards and be a university in the Mekong Delta region with many programs that have achieved international education quality accreditation according to AUN-QA, FIBAA and ABET standards. The university has also been in the Top 100 of the WURI Ranking 2022 for making positive contributions to society for many years, in the Top 200 of UI GreenMetric Ranking of green, friendly, and sustainable universities, and won the award of excellent digital transformation career unit in 2022.
The Rector congratulated more than 20,000 students from localities across the country and Cambodian students studying at the university and sent his deep gratitude to leaders of ministries; provincial People’s Committees; leaders of the province; teachers who are revolutionary elder cadres; as well as the material and spiritual support of agencies, unions, organizations, individuals, and sponsors at home and abroad, those who have created favorable conditions for the training activities of the university to be developed and successful.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa continued to call on all teachers, officials, employees, and students of the university to work together towards the common goal, successfully implement the school’s key mission in the new school year, including international accreditation, deploying the advanced university model, raising the level of international cooperation and training, developing applied scientific research and serving the community, maintaining and enhancing the position in international rankings.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan – A former member of Politburo, a former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, commended the university’s efforts in training activities, especially in raising expertise in teaching and learning. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized the importance of enhancing foreign language learning in the context of integration. Equipping new knowledge from training activities had to be associated with life experiences, helping students to have full skills before graduation, forming a responsible lifestyle in the community, and living with dreams and ambitions. He also emphasized: “Learn to be a filial child” and “Learn to build a better life and a happy family” in modern times.
In the solemn atmosphere of the Opening Ceremony, Tra Vinh University announced the decision of the School Council on establishing the School of Economics and Law.
On this occasion, the university honored, awarded certificates of merit, and gave awards to the new valedictorian and three runner-ups in the academic year 2022 – 2023, including Tran Le Thanh Vy, a former student of Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School (valedictorian), Ben Tre; Le Thanh Huyen, a former student of Hoa Minh High School (runner-up), Tra Vinh; Ngo Minh Triet, a former student of Vu Dinh Lieu High School, Tra Vinh (runner-up); Chau Chia, a former student of Ethnic Minority Boarding High School – An Giang High School (runner-up).
In the atmosphere of welcoming the new school year, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan – A former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee- awarded 24 Mr. and Mrs. Professor Nguyen Thien Thanh’s scholarships to students of Tra Vinh University. The total scholarship is worth about 72 million VND.
Accompanying the university during the past, at the ceremony on the night of November 19, 2022, domestic and foreign sponsors, scientists, individuals, organizations, businesses, and overseas Vietnamese contributed and awarded 165 scholarships worth more than 1 billion VND for students of the university.
Giving a speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, recognized and praised Tra Vinh University’s valuable achievements in recent years. The Vice Chairman directed that in the upcoming time, the university deeply grasps and implement well the ideas and guidelines of the Party, the policies and laws of the State, and the guiding documents of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee on education and training, especially Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, dated November 4, 2013, on a fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education and training; Focus on planning, training, fostering and developing a contingent of managers and lecturers to meet the requirements of teaching, scientific research and international cooperation; Pay attention to well implement policies for lecturers, administrators, and students; Create all conditions for lecturers and students to promote their capacity and forte, contributing to improving the quality of training.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee presented the Emulation Flag to the school’s collective those who “Have typical and excellent achievements in the emulation movement in 2021”; Provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit “Winning the Vietnam Digital Transformation Award 2022 in the category of excellent digital transformation enterprises and non-business units” and awarded 140 certificates of merit to 02 teams and 138 individuals “Excellently completed two-year tasks (school years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022)”.
Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector, on behalf of the entire university, received suggestions from Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan and the direction of the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Le Thanh Binh. She expressed her deep thanks to the businesses and teachers of the high schools in the provinces, domestic and foreign sponsors, and journalists who have accompanied the university throughout its formation and development.
Vietnam Teachers’ Day is a celebration for teachers and students and those who have been dedicating to the cause of education. The opening ceremony of the school year 2022-2023 and the celebration of Vietnam Teachers’ Day on November 20 has once again affirmed and honored the teaching profession and expressed gratitude to the teachers, officials and employees who have been working at the school; continued to affirm the belief, the spirit of solidarity to work together and overcome all difficulties to perform well the tasks in the new school year.

With the joyful atmosphere of the Opening Ceremony and the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20, Tra Vinh University welcomed nearly 250 students and teachers from Hieu Tu High School in Tra Vinh province and Quan Trong Hoang High School in Ben Tre province to visit and experience student life at Tra Vinh University.
