On April 21, Tra Vinh University held the opening ceremony of the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, attracting a large number of students. The event aims to promote the value of knowledge, ignite a passion for reading, and create a dynamic learning environment that encourages innovation among TVU students.
Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Vice Rector and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized three core messages: “Reading Culture โ Connecting Communities,” “Books Lead the Nationโs Growth,” and “Reading โ Enriching Knowledge, Fostering Aspirations, Driving Innovation.” He highlighted that reading is not just about acquiring knowledge but also a key to unlocking creativity, integration, and comprehensive development for the younger generation.
The event featured award ceremonies for two competitions: “Book Review Video Contest” and “Recycled Flowerpot Design Contest.” In the book review contest, the Science Research Club won first prize with members Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh, Truong Thanh Lam, and Le Dieu Linh. Other awards included second prize for another team from the same club and third prize for the “Five-Good Students” Club. Meanwhile, the recycled flowerpot contest saw the Science Research Club securing both first and second prizes, while the “Five-Good Students” Club earned third prize. Additionally, the university honored the “Top 5 Library Users of 2024” and recognized students with outstanding library usage in the first quarter of 2025, celebrating their dedication to learning and reading.
The event concluded with a free book donation activity, spreading the meaningful message: “Every book given opens a new journey of knowledge.” Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy, Director of the Center of Excellence in Learning Resources and Innovation, expressed her appreciation for students’ enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to continue fostering a reading habit. She affirmed that reading is an essential tool for students to achieve academic success and integrate into the global community.
