(TVU) – The construction of Biotechnology Institute -Tra Vinh University has just been commenced. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of the University, attended and issued the order to start the construction.
Leaders of the Advisory Council, the School Board, and the construction contractor
at the groundbreaking ceremony, Tra Vinh University’s Biotechnology Institute is one of the urgent works approved for investment in September 2020 by the Provincial People’s Committee. The main items of the works include the Building of Biotechnology Institute with 4 floors and a total area of 2,768m2; Research and application farm of bio-leaf vegetable technology with an area of about 500m2; Research and application farm for
vegetable biotechnology with an area of about 500m2; Biotechnology research and
application farm for growing fruit trees with an area of about 1000m2; Medicinal
plant research farm with an area of about 1,000m2; Nursery for tissue culture
plants with an area of about 1,000m2; and other ancillary works. The total area of
the Institute of Biotechnology – Tra Vinh University is about 6000m2. Investment
capital is mobilized from the central and the provincial budgets, and the reciprocal
capital of Tra Vinh University. The estimated time to complete the project is
expected to be 16 months.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of the University, said: “In the upcoming
time, Tra Vinh University will expand the development of facilities and human
resources in the field of biotechnology to serve research, application, technology
transfer and teaching. Thereby solving problems related to the fields of
microbiology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, seafood
and the environment in the province, the region, and the whole country”;
The completion of the Biotechnology Institute of Tra Vinh University will contribute
to develop more facilities in research, study, and teaching of students and
teachers of the university. At the same time, improve the quality of research,
application, technology transfer, and training quality in biotechnology, agriculture –
fishery and environment, etc., and promote international education integration.
