TVU – Tra Vinh University ranked 138th, up 43 places compared to the rankings in December 2021, continuing to enter the top 200 green universities with sustainable development, according to UI Greenmetric World University Rankings, announced by UI Greenmetric World University Rankings in December 2022.
In addition to improving the training quality, Tra Vinh University focuses on investing in sustainable development, ensuring standards for green space, school governance, infrastructure, energy, climate change adaptation, waste and water management,… The goal is to become a prestigious domestic and international application-oriented training and research institution. TVU also aims to build a multicultural environment to help students integrate with the working environment, and become a green and smart-university.
This year, the system ranks 1050 universities from 85 countries. In Vietnam, there are 03 universities in the ranking: Ton Duc Thang University, Tra Vinh University, and Can Tho University.
According to the UI Greenmetric World University Rankings, the ranking follows 06 main areas with 45 specific criteria, such as Environmental friendliness of the landscape and infrastructure, clean energy policy and response to climate change, waste management as well as water use and reuse policy, smart transportation systems, education, and research capacity. Tra Vinh University achieved the highest ranking in 02 areas: the transportation system (ranked 29th) and the educational and research capacity (ranked 136th). The remain fields ranked 180th and above.
Dr. Nguyễn Minh Hoà, Rector of Tra Vinh University shared: TVU is the spearheaded university in the country to sign the Talloires Declaration in 2013, committing to building a comprehensive green university. This result is the recognition of the training capacity, as well as the efforts of the lecturers and students, gradually forming a green educational environment towards international integration. Building a green university in the heart of a green city contributes to bringing the image of a university in the Mekong Delta region to the world.
UI GreenMetric is the first and only organization in the world to rank universities according to the criteria of sustainable, environmentally friendly university construction, governance, and development. UI Greenmetric initiated the international ranking of universities with a green educational environment and sustainable development investment from 2010 to the present. This is the first and most prestigious ranking in the evaluation and measurement of sustainable development criteria of universities around the world.
