On November 27, 2011, Tra Vinh University coordinated with Tra Vinh Center for HIV/AIDS prevention and control to hold a contest on HIV/AIDS, drug and prostitution knowledge, school year 2011-2012. Mr. Cao Thanh Dan – Vice director of Tra Vinh Center for HIV/AIDS prevention and control, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Bao- Chief of Student Affair Office, Mr. Nguyen Phi Cong- Secretary of TVU Youth Union, Mr. Phan Huu Phuc- Deputy Secretary of TVU Youth Union and other representatives of related departments attended the opening of the contest.
The Contest was held with the participation of more than 200 students studying at TVU divided into 14 teams competing each other. The contest focused on the following contents such as: basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS, modes of HIV transmission, measures to prevent HIV, the Law on HIV/ AIDS prevention and control, the Law on drugs prevention and control and Ordinance on prostitution prevention and control.
The candidates were asked in different testing forms such as multiple choice questions, prepared questions on paper, True-False questions and had to perform a mini play to propagate about HIV/AIDS, drugs and prostitution prevention and control. Finally, the organizing committee awarded the first prize for class DA08VDT, the second prize for class DA09VDT and the third prize for class K14THB09.
Speaking at the contest, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Bao- Chief of Student Affair Office, Head of Organizing Committee emphasized: “HIV/AIDS pandemic has been a disaster of humans and one of the main causes of this pandemic is drugs and prostitution.” After the contest, Mr. Bao desired all TVU students to be equipped for themselves some basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS, to understand some legal documents about HIV/AIDS, drugs and prostitution prevention and control so that they can have measures to protect themselves, their family and widely propagate in the community.
