On May 17th, 2012, at Hall 1, Tra Vinh University (TVU) held a workshop on “Agricultural adaptation to climate change” sponsored by Huy Thuan Company and La San company. Ms. Thach Thi Dan- Vice Rector of TVU attended and gave the opening speech.
The workshop was also attended by Prof.Dr. Andrew Boghen, University of Moncton, Canada; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Kim; Dr. Tran Thi Phan and other representative leaders of Faculty of Agriculture and Aquaculture of TVU. Besides, the workshop had the participation of delegations from Colleges of Soc Trang, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Center for Agriculture of Vinh Long and other representatives from Agricultural Offices in districts of Tra Cu, Cau Ke, Duyen Hai.
At the workshop, the participants were reported some papers on causes of climate change, impacts of climate change in the Mekong Delta, responses to climate change in farming- aquaculture. The workshop was aimed at sharing experiences, research outcomes, exchanging information and opinions among the scientists, managers and farmers about the ways to adapt climate change in agriculture.
The results of the workshop will contribute to the policy formulation at different scales in adaptation to climate change ensuring sustainable agricultural development. Making agricultural adaptation to climate change in the Mekong Delta as well as in Vietnam is an indispensable job at the present.
