(TVU) – On February 28, 2022, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (IEST) of Tra Vinh University organized a seminar between leaders, lecturers, businesses, and students of the Institute.
Attending the seminar, there was the participation of Mr. Kim Thanh – Director of Long Van Environment LLC. On the side of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, there were Dr. Pham Kim Long – President, Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich – Vice President, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuu – Vice President, along with the participation of professors, lecturers and students of IEST.
Mr. Pham Kim Long – President of IEST gave an opening speech: “This seminar between leaders, lecturers, businesses and students is an annual activity of the Institute. Through this program, the Board of Directors as well as the lecturers expect to receive students’ thoughts and aspirations, as well as promptly answer students’ questions. In addition, this is an opportunity for students to directly meet and propose ideas related to the study process, research and activities to the Institute’s Leaders.”
The seminar focused on: answering students’ questions; study orientation & scientific research; creating connections between Institute leaders, lecturers and students; connecting with businesses. Besides, students are also interested in job opportunities, job placement policies after graduation, support policies for domestic and foreign scholarships, regulations on internships, tuition fees and equipment for learning and research at TVU.
Tran Thi Diem My, a student of Environmental Engineering class of 2019 had a question: “Is there a wide range of job opportunities for environmental majors, and will there be any job support policies for us after graduation?”
Regarding this question, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuu – Vice President of IEST commented: “Currently, labor in the environmental industry has not yet met the increasing demands of businesses. After graduation, the Institute will support and also coordinate with the School’s Employment Service Center to support job placement for students. However, students must be initially prepared with a good foundation of knowledge and necessary social skills so that they will find a suitable job as they graduate.”
Huynh Thi Gia Han, a student of Environmental Engineering class of 2019, had questions about the skills and equipment that an Environmental student needs to prepare before and after graduation.
“Students need to be equipped with the presentation, communication, thinking, problem-solving skills as well as hard work, self-confidence and constant efforts. Besides, students need to be firmly equipped with expert knowledge. Also, foreign language is a factor that assists students to develop themselves in a better way”, said Mr. Kim Thanh, Director of Long Van Environment LLC.
Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich – Vice President of IEST shared that in order to satisfy the needs of communication, practice, and building a healthier playground for students, in the near future, the Institute will establish an English Club along with environmental protection playgrounds such as “Say no to plastic waste” and exchange activities with students from Australia, Canada and other countries.
On this occasion, the Institute gave students a set of labor protective equipment to serve the internship process, including a helmet, protective vest, phone protecting bag, and safety shoes. The seminar was held successfully with a lively and open atmosphere, showing the dynamic image of the IEST.
