Tra Vinh University hosts conference on building effective academic culture

TVU – On the morning of May 25th, Tra Vinh University organizes the national scientific conference “Building Academic Culture – Current Situation and Solutions”, drawing a large gathering of experts and researchers. Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of the University, presides over the conference.

The conference features distinguished experts and researchers in culture and education, including Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha, Standing Deputy Secretary of Tra Vinh Provincial Youth Union; Venerable Nun Thich Nu Hue Dang, Deputy Head of the Central Bhikkhuni Sangha; Venerable Dr. Thich Nu Nhu Nguyet, Vice Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City; and Dr. Duong Hoang Loc, Director of the Center for Religion and Ethics at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).

Representing Tra Vinh University are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice-Rector, Head of the Conference Organizing Committee; Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector; Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, former Vice-Rector, Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Council; Dr. Vo Hoang Khai, former Vice-Rector; Dr. Mai My Duyen, Scientific Advisor of Tra Vinh University, and representatives of leaders from various units of the University and students.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice-Rector, Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, states that the conference creates a scientific forum to evaluate and synthesize practical research findings and propose solutions for building school culture in the current educational context. This improves educational quality and fosters an advanced school culture harmonious with the national cultural identity and modern developmental trends.

According to the Organizing Committee, the conference receives nearly 200 paper submissions. Among them, 58 representative papers are selected for publication in the proceedings, and 05 papers are presented directly by experts at the conference, covering diverse topics and perspectives across 03 sections: Theoretical System for Building School Culture; Current Situation and Solutions for Building School Culture; and Models and Case Studies for Building School Culture.

The conference features insightful presentations on various topics, including “Some Theoretical Issues in Building University Culture in Vietnam Today in the Context of Digital Transformation”; “The Transformation of School Culture in Higher Education Institutions under the Impact of Digital Transformation in Our Country Today”; “The Culture of Behavior of Students at Ha Long Specialized High School – Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province”; “The Role of Lecturers in Building School Culture at Tra Vinh University: A Model of Experiential Foreign Language Classes Integrating Linguistic Knowledge and Cultural and Ethical Values of Vietnamese Students”; and “The Role of the Youth Union – Student Association in Building School Culture at Tra Vinh University.”

Highlighting the presentation “Some Theoretical Issues in Building University Culture in Vietnam Today in the Context of Digital Transformation”, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat from the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City sheds light on the opportunities and challenges in building university culture in Vietnam amid the digital transformation. He argues that digital transformation brings significant opportunities for building school culture by enabling lecturers and students to better integrate technology into teaching, research, and learning.

Regarding “The Transformation of School Culture in Higher Education Institutions under the Impact of Digital Transformation in Our Country Today”, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu from Tien Giang University emphasizes that school culture is a fundamental component contributing to the quality of an educational institution. He highlights that a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the ongoing changes in the current school culture landscape will be highly beneficial for proposing directions and identifying appropriate solutions to promote the positive impacts of digital transformation on developing school culture in the future.

On the topic “The Culture of Behavior of Students at Ha Long Specialized High School – Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province”, student Le Quang Minh proposes solutions to contribute to building the behavior culture of students at Ha Long Specialized High School. According to the speaker, building and developing culture from the root is a crucial and decisive step, being a top priority task that contributes to forming positive habits and creating a nurturing environment for Vietnamese students.

Sharing insights on “The Role of the Youth Union – Student Association in Building School Culture at Tra Vinh University”, Nguyen Khanh Bao Thuy Vy, a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Student Association and Vice President of the Tra Vinh University Student Association, highlights that the Student Association aims to unite and gather students into the organization through various engaging activities. These activities create an environment for students to cultivate their ideals, practice ethics, and engage in volunteer work for the community, contributing to building the school culture of Tra Vinh University students.

Attending the conference, delegates, experts, and researchers engage in candid discussions, shedding light on theoretical and practical issues in building school culture in the context of international educational integration. This provides educational and training institutions with additional data sources to guide the improvement of educational quality, scientific research, teaching, and learning.
