TVU – Tra Vinh University concludes the 2nd annual Technical Science Research Ideas Competition for high school students, marking a significant milestone in promoting scientific research among young minds in the Mekong Delta region.
Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice President of TVU, and Dr. Nguyen Tan Tai, Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, attend the competition’s final round alongside school leaders, teachers, and students from various high schools on October 27, 2024.
“This competition encourages high school students to research, innovate, and apply science to real-life situations, particularly in chemistry, materials science, and environmental studies,” Dr. Thach Thi Dan explains. “It serves as a platform for students to develop their research ideas and prepare for national science competitions.”
The preliminary round attracts 44 research projects from 84 contestants representing 21 high schools across six provinces: Dong Thap, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, Hau Giang, Tra Vinh, and Vinh Long. Following careful evaluation, 40 projects advance to the finals, with Tra Vinh province leading with 12 entries.
TVU demonstrates its commitment to nurturing young talent by supporting winners significantly. Top-performing projects receive laboratory access and up to 15 million VND in research funding. Additionally, winning students who choose to study at TVU will receive special research grants.
“During our research, we gained valuable knowledge and had the opportunity to create practical solutions that can improve people’s lives,” shares Nguyen Ngoc Dang, a Phong Phu High School student.
Established in 2023, this annual competition has quickly become a vital platform for high school students in the Mekong Delta region to showcase their scientific innovation and problem-solving skills, particularly in addressing local environmental and technological challenges.
The competition awards go to innovative projects addressing regional challenges:
