(TVU) – On February 20, 2024, Tra Vinh University’s Faculty of Education, School of Khmer Language – Culture – Arts of the South and Humanities, in collaboration with the Tra Vinh Provincial Department of Education and Training, organized the “Student Teaching and Internship Conference for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.”
The conference served as a platform to evaluate the effectiveness of student teaching and internship programs, fostering a closer connection between theoretical learning and practical teaching experience. It brought together key stakeholders, including:
University representatives: Ms. Thach Thi Dan, Vice President of Tra Vinh University, and Ms. Lam Thi Bach Tuyet, Vice Principal of the School of Khmer Language – Culture – Arts of the South and Humanities.
Department of Education and Training: Ms Tang Thi Ngoc Mai and Mr Nguyen Thanh Tuan are the deputy Directors of the Tra Vinh Provincial Department of Education and Training.
Student participants: 788 students currently engaged in student teaching and internship programs for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Ms. Thach Thi Dan emphasized the university’s commitment to providing students with practical teaching experience. She highlighted the importance of feedback and continuous improvement of the program.
Ms. Lam Thi Bach Tuyet reported on students’ successful performance in the program, particularly in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.
Ms Tang Thi Ngoc Mai stressed the need for collaboration between university lecturers and supervising teachers at internship sites. This collaboration would ensure timely feedback and effective teacher and student learning experiences.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan emphasized the importance of student teaching and internship programs in bridging the gap between theory and practice. He advocated for closer collaboration between the university and internship sites.
The conference concluded with a review of student teaching rounds conducted in September and December 2023. Feedback from host schools provided valuable insights for program improvement. The Steering Committee will utilize these insights to develop strategies for future student teaching and internship rounds, ensuring ongoing program effectiveness.
The Student Teaching and Internship Conference fostered a collaborative environment for evaluating and enhancing the program. By prioritizing student success and fostering strong partnerships with the Department of Education and Training and host schools, Tra Vinh University is well-positioned to prepare future educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen field.
