On April 28, 2023, Tra Vinh University organizes an inauguration ceremony and put into operation an artificial turf football field on Campus I of the university. Concurrently, a men’s football tournament is taking place to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2023), the 137th anniversary of International Workers’ Day (May 1, 1886 – May 1, 2023), and the 133rd Anniversary of the Birth of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2023) at the university.
In attendance, there are Mr. Tran Van Ut Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Van Do, Chairman of the Trade Union of Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company, along with leaders and officials from the Department of Science and Technology and Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant.
From Tra Vinh University, there are Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of the University; Mr. Phan Mai Bach, Deputy Director of the Victory Language and Computer Center, Advisor for the Khmer Language Training Class, along with leaders of various departments, representatives of university officials, and over 80 athletes participating in the football tournament.
Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector, stated that the construction of the artificial turf football field has contributed to enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning physical education at Tra Vinh University, particularly in the training of students majoring in Sports Management. Additionally, the facility provides a beneficial and healthy playground that meets the exercise and sports training needs of students, faculty members, and staff of the university with a high-quality standard turf.
In the future, Tra Vinh University plans to organize sports talent training classes for children in Tra Vinh city, aiming to provide them with opportunities for learning, playing, and physical development.
The construction of the artificial turf football field at Tra Vinh University was completed in two months, covering a total area of 3080 square meters. It consists of three 5-a-side football fields combined into one 7-a-side field, with a total investment cost of over 1 billion VND.
During this occasion, at the artificial turf football field of Tra Vinh University, the TVU Cup men’s football tournament is held to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2023), the 137th anniversary of International Workers’ Day (May 1, 1886 – May 1, 2023), and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2023). The tournament involves four teams from different units: Tra Vinh University, the Department of Science and Technology of Tra Vinh province, Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company in Thị xã Duyên Hải, and trainees from the Khmer language training class who are officers.
At the end of the tournament, in the final match, the team from Tra Vinh University emerged victorious with a score of 1-0, thanks to a goal scored by striker Tran Nam, securing the championship title. The runner-up position went to the team representing the Department of Science and Technology of Tra Vinh province. The teams from Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company in Thị xã Duyên Hải and the trainees from the Khmer language training class respectively claimed the third-place and encouragement awards in the tournament.
