TVU – Tra Vinh University (TVU) inaugurated the EnglishWorks career-oriented English program on May 15, 2024. Designed to equip students with the language skills needed for success in today’s job market, the program offers a unique blend of classroom instruction and practical experience.

Evening weekday classes run from May 9th to November 15th, 2024, supplemented by hands-on experiential weekend activities. This flexible schedule caters to students seeking to enhance their English proficiency alongside their academic pursuits.
Investing in the future:
Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of TVU, congratulated the selected students and highlighted the program’s significance. She emphasized the university’s commitment to developing foreign language skills for regional human resources. She hoped the program would enhance students’ communication abilities, soft skills, and future career prospects.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Duong of SEAMEO RETRAC underscored the importance of English communication in a globalized environment. She emphasized how EnglishWorks empowers students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to excel in the 21st century and prepare for a globalized workforce.

Lam Huu Luong, an Electrical Engineering student representing the program participants, expressed his gratitude to the organizers for creating this learning opportunity. He pledged to diligently complete the program and leverage the acquired skills for future success.

The EnglishWorks program goes beyond basic English language instruction. It targets the specific needs of STEM students, equipping them with the technical vocabulary and communication skills crucial for their chosen fields. Additionally, the program fosters professional and soft skills development, preparing students for a smooth transition into the workforce.
Collaborative Initiative:
EnglishWorks is a collaborative effort between SEAMEO RETRAC, the Regional English Office (RELO) of the US Embassy in Hanoi, and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. This marks the second consecutive year that the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Tra Vinh University has been chosen as a partner to implement this valuable program.
