(TVU) – On November 19th, Tra Vinh University held the opening ceremony of the 2021-2022 school year and the online meeting to celebrate the 39th Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2021). Mr. Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU, delegates, teachers, and all students have attended via online method.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Han praised the achievements of the collective, lecturers, and staff of Tra Vinh University in recent years. At the same time, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested the school to actively coordinate with the health sector to develop and implement a flexible and adaptive school year plan suitable to the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in the province; strengthen digital transformation in training, continue to perfect online teaching methods, improve the capacity of lecturers; continue to closely coordinate with enterprises and employers in training to create jobs for students after graduation; pay attention to well implement policies for lecturers and students, especially lecturers and students affected by the Covid-19 epidemic to overcome difficulties to continue working and studying well.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Rector of TVU, has reviewed the achievements of Tra Vinh University’s teachers and students in the 2020 – 2021 school year.
The Rector said: “In the 2020-2021 school year, the university has successfully organized the 15th Anniversary of Tra Vinh University and 20 years of Community College model, with many meaningful welcome activities, marking the great development step after 20 years of establishment and development.
Most recently, TVU was ranked 71st in the Top 100 of WURI Ranking 2021, being an influential school and making positive contributions to society; ranked 17th (up 7 places compared to before) in the Top 50 for the value of startups for innovation and 48th in the Top 50 for international student exchange and cooperation, exchange opportunities for many years in a row, TVU ranked in the Top 100 universities with influence and positive contributions to society – WURI Ranking; Top 200 sustainable, friendly green universities-UI GreenMetric Ranking. The university soon applied the quality management system of ISO 9001-2000 from 2006, ISO 9001-2008, ISO 9001-2015. Many programs have passed FIBAA, AUN-QA and the University is continuing to expand AUN and FIBAA international education accreditation in the fields of Health Sciences, Languages, and Economics and Law; ABET accreditation of Engineering and Technology industries.
Training activities, scientific research and international cooperation have always promoted and achieved many outstanding results. Specifically, in the past year, the University focused on promoting scientific research, in which over 67 topics at all levels have been and are being implemented; there are more than 300 scientific articles published in national and international journals; there are 12 projects of technology transfer and community support.
Besides, students’ entrepreneurial activities have gradually become more exciting. In 2021, many ideas from students have presented at the contest “Start-up ideas of Tra Vinh province in 2021”, most of the ideas are very simple, the product processing materials are close to real life. In particular, there are 14 viable and highly practical student startup ideas and projects that will participate in the final round of the province and the Mekong Delta in December.
Tra Vinh University always maintains connections with nearly 300 units, organizations, businesses and signed cooperation agreements with nearly 30 partners. The number of enterprises participating in the training process of the University is increasing. Graduates have jobs, according to the survey at the end of 2020, accounting for 86.63%, higher than in previous years.
In August 2021, Tra Vinh University held an online signing ceremony and launched the King Sejong Institute of Korean Language and Culture – Tra Vinh. This is a valuable opportunity for the University to promote the movement of learning the Korean language and culture among students and the community.
At the beginning of this November, Tra Vinh University was pleased to receive 03 more training programs of international quality AUN – QA in Nursing, Agriculture and Khmer Language, bringing the total number of programs meeting quality standards. The quality of international education has increased to 9 programs and is one of the top schools in the Mekong Delta with many programs that have passed the international education quality accreditation AUN-QA and FIBAA. Of which 05 training programs meet AUN-QA international education quality standards: Agriculture, Fisheries, Veterinary Medicine under the School of Agriculture and Fisheries; Nursing under the School of Medicine and Pharmacy; Khmer language under the School of Southern Khmer Language, Culture and Art; 04 training programs meeting FIBAA international education quality standards: Business Administration, Economy, Accounting and Banking Finance – School of Economics and Law.
The school has implemented a 10% tuition fee reduction for regular students in the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year to share the hardships with parents and students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Recently, officials, lecturers and employees of the University have contributed more than 200 million VND to the fund to support the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic and more than 100 million VND to the program “Computer for children” to buy computers. for students with difficult circumstances, helping them have the conditions to study online. The school has joined with benefactors to have many activities to give gifts and free meals to disadvantaged people during the epidemic season; More than 150 students volunteered with the University’s officials and lecturers to participate in the frontline of the fight against the epidemic at field hospitals to treat the Covid-19 epidemic, as well as coordinate in organizing Covid-19 vaccination for TB workers. in the province”.

The school also awarded certificates of merit to 11 groups and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in assessment outside of training programs according to AUN-QA standards and contributed to the construction and development of the University.
