Tra Vinh University promotes health through “10,000 steps a day” walking program

TVU – The College of Medicine and Pharmacy (CMP) at Tra Vinh University organized a “Walking 10,000 steps a day for good health” program on May 8 to celebrate International Nurses Day on May 12. Nearly 100 students, lecturers, and health sector experts participated in the event.

Professor Lynda Boyer Chu, a nursing expert from the United States, attended the program alongside Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Thu, Head of the Nursing Faculty; Dr. Nguyen Van Trung, Deputy Head of the Nursing Faculty; and teachers serving as deputy heads of departments within the Nursing Faculty of the College of Medicine and Pharmacy.

In her address, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Thu highlighted the significant benefits of maintaining a daily walking habit, particularly reaching the 10,000-step goal. She explained that this activity supports cardiovascular health, enhances metabolism, and improves mental wellbeing. Dr. Thu emphasized that walking regularly represents a simple yet effective long-term exercise for improving overall health.

     

The “Walking 10,000 steps” program spreads awareness about physical fitness for community health while showcasing the solidarity between lecturers, students, and international nursing experts during International Nursing Day celebrations. The event also raises awareness about the nursing profession’s crucial role in protecting and caring for public health.
