TVU – On August 24th, a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training visits Tra Vinh University to assess the current situation and needs for high-quality human resource training among ethnic minorities in Tra Vinh province.
The delegation, led by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Head of the Higher Education Department, includes representatives from various government agencies and educational institutions.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy emphasizes that this survey is part of a crucial initiative assigned by the Prime Minister to develop a proposal for training high-quality ethnic minority human resources in key sectors such as health, information technology, finance-banking, agriculture, and teacher training.

Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, reports on the current state and needs of high-quality ethnic minority human resource training from 2019 to 2023. She highlights the university’s efforts in fair recruitment, promotion, and support for ethnic minority staff and students.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of Tra Vinh University, proposes several recommendations to the delegation:
(1) Increased attention from local and central leadership in implementing national goals for socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas.
(2) Expansion of financial support for students in university preparatory departments.
(3) Additional policies for lecturers in the School of Southern Khmer Language-Culture – Arts.
(4) Consideration for a quota in 2025 for the specialized Khmer language pedagogy program.
(5) Enhanced policies to support high-quality human resource development, especially for ethnic minorities.
(6) Review the roadmap for implementing student tuition reduction policies.
The delegates engage in in-depth discussions on various aspects of ethnic minority education and training in key sectors. They also propose additional fields for consideration in the project.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy commends the valuable input from Tra Vinh University’s faculty and students, noting that many suggestions contribute to clarifying theoretical and practical arguments for setting goals, requirements, tasks, and solutions in training high-quality ethnic minority human resources.
