TVU – May 13, 2024 – Tra Vinh University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) hosts a well-attended “Applying digital skills in entrepreneurship and career building” seminar on May 12th. The seminar gives students the digital skills necessary to thrive in the modern job market and entrepreneurial landscape.
The seminar featured presentations from prominent figures in the Vietnamese business community:
Mr Nguyen Van Tien: Director of Nong Thinh Agricultural Supply Chain Stores and a Tra Vinh Provincial Entrepreneurship Advisory Council member.
Mr Nguyen Thanh Gia: Director of Song Yen Social Enterprise Consulting and Training Company Limited and Tra Vinh Provincial Entrepreneurship Advisory Council member.
Ms Nguyen Thi My Duyen: Head of Sales Department at Hoang Huan Tien Giang One Member Limited Company (Prudential My Tho 2 General Agency Office).
Importance of Digital Skills in the Industry 4.0 Era
Mr Nguyen Van Vu An, Director of the Tra Vinh Provincial Business Incubator, CIE Director at Tra Vinh University, and Standing Vice Chairman of the Tra Vinh Provincial Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, emphasized the critical role of digital skills in today’s business environment. He highlighted the increasing demand for professionals with digital expertise to optimize operations, enhance competitiveness, and adapt to the rapidly evolving market.

Seminar topics include Business needs for students’ digital skills, Professional skills for students in the industry 4.0 revolution, and Digital competency framework for students in digital transformation.
Addressing the skills gap
The seminar addressed the digital skills gap faced by many students entering the workforce. Speakers provided recommendations such as actively participating in training programs, adopting a proactive approach towards Industry 4.0 platforms, and fostering a continuous learning and knowledge exchange culture.

Mr Nguyen Van Vu An also presented the “Digital Competency Framework for Students,” developed by a research team from the Project on Enhancing Digital Competencies for Students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), with sponsorship from Facebook. This framework serves as a roadmap for universities to design training programs that equip students with the essential digital skills needed for success in the 21st century.
Looking ahead: AI Club launch and collaboration
The seminar concluded with the CIE introducing the university’s new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Club and signing a memorandum of cooperation with Hoang Huan Tien Giang One Member Limited Company. These initiatives demonstrate Tra Vinh University’s commitment to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and connections necessary to thrive in a digital world.
