TVU – The ‘Straw wood – Artificial wood from straw’ innovation from Tra Vinh University wins the championship at the GVB Prize 2025 international startup competition.
On June 15 in London, United Kingdom, the GVB Prize 2025 startup competition takes place. This activity is part of the Global Vietnam Business Festival 2025 event series with the theme “Green Transformation and Digital Transformation” organized by HaMy Academy (United Kingdom) and KAmedia in cooperation with the National Innovation and Startup Support Center (NSSC – Ministry of Science and Technology).

The GVB Prize 2025 startup competition creates opportunities for young Vietnamese startups, helping Vietnamese creative ideas reach the world and connect with international investors to explore funding opportunities and expand cooperation networks. As the global trend toward green transformation and digitalization receives increasing attention, the competition becomes an important platform for Vietnamese startup projects to develop and establish their position in the international market.
This year’s competition attracts 146 applications from 5 countries and goes through 3 rounds: preliminary, selection, and semifinal. The “Straw wood – Artificial wood from straw” innovation from Tra Vinh University successfully passes through the competition rounds, becomes part of the Top 3 GVB Startup 2025, and officially participates in the final round in London. In the final round, 3 teams present their projects and answer questions from the judging panel and investors. As a result, the “Straw wood – Artificial wood from straw” innovation by authors Son Tran Minh Man – Nguyen Xuan Thanh – Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong wins the championship.
Nguyen Xuan Thanh, representative of the author team competing in London, says: “Achieving the highest position in the competition is a great pride for our team. This is not only a victory for one project but also evidence of the creativity and relentless efforts of Tra Vinh University students in developing sustainable solutions. We hope the project will continue to be developed and applied in practice to contribute to environmental protection and green industry development in Vietnam and the world.”
The achievement of the Tra Vinh University author team at GVB Prize 2025 is not only a victory in a creative competition but also evidence of the entrepreneurial and creative abilities of Vietnamese students on the international startup map. This is also a major step forward in the development journey of Vietnam’s green materials industry, contributing to creating sustainable solutions for the future.
