Tra Vinh University visits Leyte Normal University, Philippines

On the occasion of Leyte Normal University (LNU) President Investiture Program to Dr. Jude A. Duarte, the delegation of Tra Vinh University (TVU) led by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of Advisory Committee and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector paid a visit to Leyte Normal University, Philippines on July 11, 2013.

At the formal and honorable ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the two universities’ leader representatives in curriculum quality testing, recruiting international students, and staff and faculty capacity enhancement for offering English courses as international criteria.

MoU has been signed in pleasure and determination of the two universities for future cooperation

In the Investiture Program, Dr. Jude A. Duarte expressed his gratitude to Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector for his congratulations. Dr. Jude A. Duarte highly appreciated TVU’s achievements in international cooperation affairs and committed to develop this tight relationship to be lasting and promote the signed cooperative areas which have been agreed by Dr. Nona S. Ricafoit, Commissioner of Commission on Higher Education, Philippines.

Leyte Normal University (LNU)

LNU came into being in 1921 as the Provincial Normal School, a mere adjunct of the Leyte High School. It eventually outgrew its base becoming a two-year collegiate training institution in 1938. It became a degree-granting four-year college complete with a training department in 1952. It was then known as Leyte Normal School.

Sometime in April 1996, the university was proclaimed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the Center of Excellence for Teacher Education in Region VIII from 1996 to 2001. Then in August 2008, CHED again awarded LNU as Center of Excellence for Teacher Education from 2008 – 2011.

Tra Vinh University (TVU)

TVU was Tra Vinh Community College (TVCC) which was established in 2001 under Vietnam Canada Community College Project. TVU has been upgraded from TVCC since 2006. There are 11 faculties and over 20,000 students. TVU offers multi levels including articulation courses and variety of flexible learning. Its mission is to provide skilled human resource and applied research.
