Tra Vinh University welcomes National Education and Human Resources Development Council for Khmer Language Program Assessment

TVU – On June 20, 2024, Tra Vinh University hosts a delegation from the National Education and Human Resources Development Council to evaluate the teaching and learning of Khmer language programs. The assessment focuses on the university’s Khmer Language, Khmer Literature Pedagogy, and Khmer Language Pedagogy programs.

The high-profile delegation includes Associate Professor Dr. Luu Bich Ngoc (Head of Delegation); Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi My Loc; Professor Dr. Huynh Van Son; Associate Professor Dr. Pham Duc Quang; Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh; Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai.

Tra Vinh University’s leadership, led by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Rector, receives the delegation. Other key university officials and faculty members from the School of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanity are also present.

Tra Vinh University, particularly its School of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanity, is crucial in training human resources in Southern Khmer language, culture, and arts. The university aims to provide a dynamic and high-quality learning environment, enabling young generations to access and preserve traditional Southern and Khmer cultural values.

  

The delegation discusses various aspects, including the University organizational structure, implementation of central and local policies on Khmer language education, teaching and learning conditions for Khmer language programs, resources such as faculty, facilities, equipment, curricula, and textbooks, student feedback and experiences, policies for educators, educational managers, and Khmer language learners.

  

Associate Professor Dr. Luu Bich Ngoc acknowledges the university’s achievements in curriculum content, teaching methods, and faculty quality. She also notes the challenges faced in implementing these programs.

The visit aims to assess the current state of ethnic language education to advise the Prime Minister on nationwide ethnic policies and provide specific guidance for Khmer language programs at Tra Vinh University.

This comprehensive evaluation underscores the importance of Khmer language education in Vietnam’s educational landscape. The insights gathered during this visit may shape future policies and support for ethnic language programs across the country, ensuring they align with local realities while preserving cultural heritage.
